Did you figure it out? I have the same problem from my mid 80 Raleigh Record sprint, on the left crank all the way down.. broke down the bb and rebuilt it, changed the chain, tightened the rear wheel, put a wrench on everything that can be tightened, and then tightened it. The frame is 501(?) and twists when I give it reasonable amounts of torque. i am running a 52/15 ratio as well, but i think the noise is coming from the alloy chain ring, any advice would be welcome
