Gouge out eyes with a rusty nail? Don't buy that mercian? Buy it and remove the mudgaurds and 'convert' it into a full on HHSPengy?
Replace mudguards with far superior ones liberated from a certain lemon and lime bike.

Black and Blue fail, it's ugly as hell (colour-wise)

Love to know what that is a euphemism for.
Someone who doesn't want to spray the person behind when the going gets really wet and splashy?

That Mercian is really nice. Wouldn't take much to replace the few black components with silver ones, while sorting out the devil's combination of Shimano and Campagnolo parts at the same time... and replacing the perfectly functional SKS 'guards with rather more elegant ones from Honjo or Berthoud.

Loverly (yes even the mudguards).
Real mismatch of components though. Why does it have a long cage rear mech? -

Why does it have a long cage rear mech?
because of the small chainring and the really wide gear ratio.
sorry if i missed something.

sorry if i missed something. Its jus a standard compact double and the cassette looks like a pretty standard one to me (up to 25/26t?).
Although saying that, as it seems to be built for touring/audax. A wide ratio would make sense, so I reserve he right to claim end-of-week tiredness if I'm wrong.

![](http://i.ebayimg.com/04/!BTL4piQBWk~$(KGrHgoOKkIEjlLmUkORBKHF8H5et!~~_1.JPG)Not so- they live in the same block as me, the wheels were stolen recently.
I presume they left it locked up somewhere without securing them.

True
I dont really know what I'm talking about TBH. I've just been checking chain length calculators, and recommended rear mech arm lengths, a lot recently (I relation to a geared build). So it was the first thing I noticed.
Fact is, if it were me buying that bike. I would even consider fitting a triple chainset (shock horror) and a rear rack. It looks prime for some serious touring miles.
