  • I want some spandals, Northwave shark FTW!

?!!? amazed that the Italians have come out with these,
arent they really flexy and shit though?
would be bothered about em feeling like a weak engagement with bike.....

  • Spotted a gent in Birkies, socks and a R**** long sleeve jersey in an upscale coffee vendor. No sign of a bike....
    R**** the new North Face?

I don't know how to post a photo, but it seems relevant. I wore these to death last year, and the leather strap broke before my ankles did. The thing is is that I can ride in high heels, but I look like a monkey walking in them for more than 5 minutes!

  • kinky^

  • I saw a guy today, he was riding in sandals not sure if they were SPD but he was a member of the SAS..

  • I was doing a lot of commuting in NYC in the summer and bought the Lake spdandles - I looked shite but stayed cool and very surprisingly they were not a compromise vs. shoes/cleats. Ended up using them on long rides with the lads in the country at speed very happily.

  • "These are my very favorite footwear. In the summertime I go for weeks on end without everh having anything else on my feet. Far and away the most comfortable cycling footwear ever." -- Sheldon Brown

  • do spdandles have stiff soles like cycling shoes?

  • Sheldon likes them, gold seal of approval.
    arf arf arf.

Thats what I feared - that i would loose efficiency - but they are really very good, stiff, well connected to foot like a shoe but very comfortable as well as when walking!

I would recommend them to any one when the temp gets hot but most here are way to young and have to think about how they look so from that point of view a -1!

  • I still think you need one of these to wear them though...

  • Right, my Northwave Spdandals have arrived!
First impressions are good, really stiff sole - comfy, nice to walk about in off the bike, sole is quite thick. Haven't tried them on the bike yet - will put some cleats on them tonight and ride them tomorrow morning - foot fetish pictures to follow...

  • Glad that first impressions are good- I await the update.

Will you wear them to the barbie?

  • Of course as long as the forecast doesnt remain for Sunday.

  • Where sells these over here? Cant find any UK sellers when I googled them

    pics please,
got mine in full effect now--- theres a delightful draft through the toe vents as you ride along, keeping the foot well ventilated. north wave rock- best winter boots for filthy weather, best spandals for summer. I love summer sunshine.
    Bella Italia.

  • Which is exactly why it was wrong, you thick twat. 'Complement', that which adds to or makes complete.
BTW, Good interview with Mark Ward in today's Indy. I'd find the link for you, but I know you're ignoring me...
my new word of the week, it just rolls off you tongue so well!

I will sort out some pics, I must say they are a little bit flexy for me, the venting is nice, I think its more to do with my wierd feet (one is very inflexible and 2 sizes smaller than the other) Wouldnt wear them on long rides or for getting up hills, but for pootling about town they are pretty good.
I now have the full season complement, however, regular, winter boots and spandals - Northwave rule.

I got mine from ze Germans at Bob.de btw.

  • OK they're not sandles, but these shoes are seriously stiff and have fantastic ventilation (it really works). (They do a MTB version for those wanting to take a couple of steps off the bike).
    Northwave areators.

  • but hey don't have the "je ne sais quoi" that spdandals do

  • they are fucking lush though, i'm a sucker for northwave shoes

  • I challenged Dammit and Steves at last night SE drinks to building me a pair of "spandals"... routers at the ready boys...
It must have been the cider (or did i receive a blow to the head!)... but I think I also agreed to lending them a pair of Jimmy Choos...

Clefty - piccies of of your new spandals would be bliss.... x
