i generally pass through there a few times a day, from the peckham library to where this incident happened is a nightmare bottle neak. traffic moves slowly, moterbikes cut up the centre & because of all the bus stops peds walk out onto the road like lemmings as well as having some of the worst road surfaces.
Trucks often turn left up toward the Ildl (and a few other discout stores up there too) without indicating. Its a really tricky spot because filtering on the outside is really dangerous as the road is so narrow. I almost went into the side of a car there last week, no indicator & because of the pace of the bottleneak & lights people feel the need to put in as much acceleration as quickly as possible when they get a chance.
Not to get into undertaking HGVs debate, but i think that messege should be clear to all cyclists. be defensive where you can people and more importantly be safe.
my heart goes out to the victim, sad.
