Another funny as fuck hit and run "HAR HAR". Bad luck fella. Pity you didn't get their full plates.
Any CCTV in the area? Has anyone actually used CCTV to catch a HAR driver? -
• #3
dont think there is any cctv on the roads but its apretty posh area so i expect there to be some cameras around i will prob take a proper look around tomorrow..
-
• #4
cameras are only there for the police to make money from speeding motorists and light jumpers. Looking into this incident will cost the police money and therefore its very unlikely they will do anything.
Driver was probably uninsured blue badge of death merchant. He probably slowed down to make sure he hadn't killed you. When he realised you were relatively unscathed he fucked off. Cunt
Lucky you weren't injured to badly.

Commiserations talboy - get your back seen to as soon as possible.
-

im gonna go get it seen tomorrow, not sure about cycling on the road for fitness purposes, seems ironic that im doing it to prolong life whilst other are trying to fuck it up!!
Was good to see that other cyclists were willing to chase a car on their bikes to help me out, good to see there is some decent folk out there...
-
• #7
there is definitely cctv around the outer circle.

Sorry to hear this talboy, hope its not serious and your back on the bike so the confidence returns.

Don't let it put you off talboy. Do not let them win! Funny that a 'planet friendly' prius owner would do such a thing to a cyclist. One word for him, Bastard.
Keep ridin'....

Glad you're ok Talboy, get that back checked out though.
Read this thread - very helpful http://www.londonfgss.com/thread4213.html

cheers for the well wishes guys, good community here FGSS...
Billy thanks for the number mate i will give them a call in the morning, i suspect there is CCTV there purely due to the value of the properties on that road...
Hoping to get back on the bike in the next few days assuming my back isnt worse in the morning so think i might be able to put it behind me soon enough...
If anyone reading this hasnt seen the sticky about what to do if hit then i seriously recommend it, important if you are riding on the road...
-
• #13
Sorry to hear about that. I've never seen that sort of thing happen in the real world, so I like to think that it's quite rare.
Good luck with the CCTV and hope you're fine again soon.
-
• #14
TB i thought it was quiet rare too but the guy at the police station said they have absolutely loads of hit and runs involving cyclists... fact is once your hit the shock of being on the ground stops you thinking about looking for number plates etc and all it takes is a few seconds and the car is too far away to read the plates...
Shouldn't happen at all but sad truth is it probably happens all the time and im sure that most arent as lucky as i have been..

tallboy, that is a shocker, and we will all pray that you visit to the hospital does not reveal anything serious. I live in swiss cottage and ride around outer circle on my commute everyday, what you just described is horrendous. fuck their are hundreds that ride the outer circle everyday. if this twat is caught i hope there is a suitable traffic offense to fit the crime like hmm lets see... 200 hours community service or two year driving ban with re-take driving test..
it took me two weeks to get my confidence back after a big knock, keep us posted please..

Shit mate, glad you're ok thought, echoing the other, it's vital to get your back checked out, it easy to assumed for example an armed to be just bruised when it's actually broken.
fucking hate it when the cunts drive away because it seemed like the best course of action for them, "oh I won't get arrested or caught, it's only a cyclists".
Like almac68 just said, it will take a while to gain a bit of confidence back after a knock, so try and be patient, at least you're alright.

glad your ok matey, i can also attest along my route through Willesden Lane countless times when a driver severely misjudges my speed, and ends up squeezing me abruptly on the inside while they swerve around the traffic island like maniacs. Often they apologise, often they do not.
Traffic islands are bad for cyclists. end of.
some of them are hard to see even, they kind of 'blend in'.

Glad you are ok ish, perhaps you should post the partial reg number you have on here? You never know the numpty may use the Outer Circle as a regular route.

+1 - on my commute I pretty much see a lot of the same cars every day at roughly the same time...

I agree. There are far too many of them, and they leave very little room for vehicles to pass you on a bike. Maybe a Fiesta can, but a van or a bus? and they have "keep left" bollards which mean it's a 3 points offence to pass them on the other side, so motorists are legally forced to squeeze back in. Plus there are some roads where they are so densely spaced that every overtaking move becomes a wild and dangerous risk.
Toyota Piouses are almost always badly driven. the drivers are are slow, erratic and unobservant, so wrapped up in a cocoon of their own smug self-satisfaction that they forget to account for the real world. And quite a lot are registered as minicabs, which can only mean even worse driving.

This is the reg plate the witness managed to get hold of - Ej08 8UZ its obviously wrong as it cannot be 8uz it needs to be 3 letters... Either way more than grateful that the guy managed to get even that..
Its a black toyota prius and is driven by a total toss pot so if any of you see a prius of simiar description please try to confirm reg plate and or pull the guy out of his car and trap his fingers in your chain ring... that will teach him..

Not sure if it could be but EJ08 LUZ is a Toyota Prius Spirit
Hi all,
I was hit today by a car on the regents park outer circle whilst doing my daily circuits for exercise...
Fortunately i think i am ok, i have got some shooting pain in my back and shoulder blade when i crouch at a certain angle but think i have been quite lucky...
I was approaching a traffic island and cycling in the cycle lane when a black toyota prius tried to overtake me and then realised there was a traffic island there and swerved back in to avoid it and in doing so his back end of the passenger side hit me and pushed me off, luckily it was the rear passenger side so avoided being run over by wheels or anything like that...
The next bit i didnt expect... the driver stopped about 30 yards on and then drove off...
Fortunately other cyclists were there and stopped to help me and make sure i was ok and one even chased the car to try to get number plates but was only able to get a little bit..
I feel quite lucky to not have hurt myself more and feel absolutly disgusted that a tosser driver knew what had happened and didnt think to see if i was ok at all...
I went to the police station and filled out the form but i am unsure of what happens from here... I have got names and numbers of three witnesses and i am going to the hospital tomorrow to make sure iv done no serious damage to my back (feels like iv trapped a nerve or something i think..)
All in all im ok but glad i had read over the guidance posted on fgss in case of a crash really helped me make sure i did everything properly...
My bike seems ok too scratched one side tore my saddle and lost some bar tape and scratched the bars and the rear wheel seems to make a slight rattle at the same point of revolution but think it will be ok nothing too bad...
Not the best experince to be honest feel like my confidence is weakened a fair bit dont think ill be comfortable riding at speed for a while...
Ride carefully folks...
