when Clive so graciously let me sit next to him at a home game i was struck by how much the demographic had changed in the 10 years since i had last been to a football game. a real mix of people of all ages, class groups, ethnicity and a large proportion of the fairer sex.
these people may not have the club tattooed on their sleeve but they want to watch 'their' team play, is that such a bad thing? or in early life are you supposed to have taken a beating from the rest of the school for supporting the 'other' team and been chased by home fans running down the cobbled backsteets as a callow youth before you can truly call yourself a fan?
