S.C.C.U. Roadmans 25 Track Meeting

I wanted to start a new thread, but I'm apparently not allowed to do that yet...
Anyway...
Anyone here doing the roadman 25mile on 20/6?
It's one of the national endurance league event, but there are veteran(over 40) omunium as well as 500m match sprint. And you get to race against some of the best UK track riders as well! well worth it for £12.
tomorrow is closing date for entry and there are no entry on line, and I think Ron will be there to take last minute entries.

Event 2. VETERANS (MASTERS CPLUS) OMNIUM

(4 Events Sprint, Elimination Race, Points Race and Scratch Race)
Prizes 1st. £40, 2nd. £30, 3rd. £20. 1st. Over 50 years old £10, 1st Over 60 years old £10.
Event 3. WOMENS OMNIUM.

(4 Events 500m. S.S.T.T., Sprint, Points race or Pursuit and Scratch Race)

Ron's still accepting entries for a few more days. it's not very often that you can go around the track 84 times in one race!!
And 500m sprint is a quite rare event at Herne Hill.

That is a great track meeting. I'm sadly gonna miss this as I'm racing in Belguim that week...

I've learned a few things about hiding gels/water etc under your skinsuit while racing on the track last year...

I think i'll enter and see how it looks on the day. 25 mile race sounds properly insane though.

I've just printed out the entry form. The 20 km scratch races are fun so I'd expect a 40 km one to be twice as much fun! :-)

I've ridden this before, not as bad as it sounds, like an extended 20k, usually plenty of breaks as the roadies try to get clear of the trackies before the final gallop

Do you think you're allowed to listen to an ipod, listening to an audio book or something?

Guy should, but I'm busy with work over the next few weekends and training will be hard to come by, I can feel my speed dwindling daily :(

I've given up track riding, I'm focusing most of my efforts on ornamental flower arranging now.

I mostly hang out at https://forum.poppies.org/ these days.

You can still come down HH though, the centre of the track would look lovely with a flower arrangement or two.

and some carbon vases...
