As others have no doubt already said, due to the UCI's failure to award equal prize money for men and women, VP is just using this opportunity to supplement her income, and probably doubled her annual income by doing so.

her fee for the shoot would not double anyone's income. most of her income would be from british cycling and sponsorship (addidas, sky etc)
the shoot will be good publicity for her and her sponsors in areas she has little or no brand exposure.
i really don't understand what the problem is with her doing it?
you should all be worrying about you job security or why you spend too much money on imported bike exotica to commute on rather than the moral and ethical stance of an olympic cyclist.
