NY?? Could have sworn he was in London....according to ebay anyway! How is he still selling stuff on ebay??
he wasn't selling a bike, that person in London nicked the photo from a website and claim to be selling a bike, as far as I can see that is.

see?

either way I've reported him on ebay, it's defintely dodgy, especially pick up only and cash in hand.
-
• #2056
ye i reported him too.... but ebay wont do anything unless, the local police step in, so it says in my email, unless I've read it wrong.
-
• #2057
So what is the guy on eBay up to? Putting up photos of bikes he doesn't have? Won't the "lucky" buyer spot that it's a different bike when he turns up with the cash?
-
• #2058
I think the plan is a quick robbery of someone with a pocket full of money. No bike, just a knife or a fist to the face.
-
• #2059
pretty much, a straight and simple robbery in a quiet area, hence 'pick up only' and 'cash only', althought I don't know why they have that bike with paypal.

he/she has quite a collection

the poor description should and does not make this person a thief or a fence though.
good bicycles can be bought from police and airport auctions. innocent until proven guilty and all of that. that said ......
sorry if i missed something.
edit: any detective with a bit of time.
he is also selling an ajp. ask for the serial number and maybe from that you might be able to trace it through the shop, no? maybe they would know who it was made for.
this guy is linking to images on flickr - £50 says he has none of these bikes.
-
• #2061
yep, I'd defintely said that he has none of those bikes, especially when the one being mentioned is still in Brooklyn, NYC.

Ebay won't do anything unless a police officer sends in a data protection form
Then ebay release the sellers email to the police who go round and fuck him up/ politely tak the bikes off him.
As I reckon this is a turn up + be mugged at knifepoint, you should call the met's NON emergency line and report it using the ebay seller's id and suggest you think people are going to be put in danger.
that is the only way to stop this person.Ebay may take up to 14 days! to take any action.
I'm quite aware of theire rules and regs thanks to my recent recovery of my bike.
The police were so helpful, eBay were a pile of crap.
Just goes to point out, if you're nice to someone, they'll be nice back. -

Eyebrows, thanks for the pointers. As you can see, these bikes aren't even stolen, just a lazy / possibly dangerous scam. This discussion is being held on the ebay thread now (easier in just one place). No need to call in yer Dad ;-)

Last night at about 1am a housemate had her bike taken from our hallway in Nunhead, Peckham. Probably someone left the door open.
It's has a pearly 19" mint green frame with mavic rims and a weinman hub on the rear (we think). It was bought from Brick Lane Bikes about 2 months ago. Black Bianchi stem with silver drop handle bars and a green brake cable. We're not sure of the frame - it was an Italian make, vetta or verra or something like that.

sorry to hear, got a pic?
-
• #2067
I've seen what may possibly be my stolen Saracen twice in the Hackney Rd area recently. All the components have changed, but the frame is the same.
I don't want the fucking thing back, but it still irks me to see it around.

I messaged this guy on e bay with some very reasonable questions about frame size etc, and a request to view the bike: No response.
If this is a suspected scam/robbery set up how about a reverse sting.
Winning bibber turns up backed up by 10 large grinning friends?T....e .i.

Last night, on my way to Wests, I saw a guy riding a dark red, brakeless bike with silver deep rims and risers. not clipped in. slowing down with thew soles of his feet on the ground. looked really suss.
he pulled into the tower block between stanford bridge and the kings road.Probably not going to help anyone, but i thought i'd mention it.

No, unfortunately.

This morning around 8 at Brick Lane market I've seen a pink track bike, black fork, pink champs kind of grips on riser. No brakes, spd but the guy(dirty look, tatoos, long hair) was riding it with plain shoes!
May be mistake but way too dodgy -

definitely stolen.

As much as I hate this to be my second (or third) post, it is.
I've only been riding fixed for a couple of months but some pikey wanker nicked my charge plug racer tonight from Whitecross street in east. You can't really miss it - lime green Dia compe Gran SS on the rear wheel, set of chopped down risers on the front with green grips and a green front brake cable. It's insured so I'm not hugely gutted, but it was locked down with a serious bit of kit. If I see anyone riding it - you are getting a flying kick to the face, whether you have the internet or not.
On that note - anyone selling a 54-56cm fixie - drop me a line. Need something to get me to work next week or I'll go mad.
Cheers in advance.
