Well, at the risk of bickering.... The 396 was one of the most successful track frames of its generation. Ridden to victory at international and Olympic level. So I think it would be fair to say they didn't "get the geometry wrong".
Depends on what you mean by 'wrong'. The 396 was undoubtedly effective, but if the geometry makes the set up look aesthetically displeasing then it's wrong for the porn thread. Not wishing to be down on Look (I have a 585, so I'm hardly a Look-hater), but their record of Olympic and World medals probably has more to do with their extensive sponsorship of top national track teams than any inherent superiority of their frames over the competiton.
