They already replaced it with the 496, and now the 596 is going to replace that. Not sure how many sizes of 396 they made, but both examples above look like somebody forcing the wrong sized frame to fit them, which isn't Look's fault. If all 396s have to be set up with the Ergostem in a Z shape, that is Look's fault.
Well, at the risk of bickering.... The 396 was one of the most successful track frames of its generation. Ridden to victory at international and Olympic level. So I think it would be fair to say they didn't "get the geometry wrong".
