This is from the "EHBPC Registration Deatials" thread...
This needs to be sorted. Nes when we first discussed this YOU said that we should only have 2 teams. And those 2 teams should be the best players we have. So we registered 2 teams, but you went ahead and signed up a 3rd.
In order to decide this we were talking about differenet options of fielding out the best players. We could have a mini qualifiers, but the majority agreed on deciding a definate "A" team then letting them chose the best players from all the games we are going to play from now until the tourney.
Everyone is considered Nes, you, sophie dan nick ect....but if these people aren't showing up to play then we have to sort this without them.
I don't think you should have registered a 3rd team, and I certainly think you should'nt go ahead with it. We just don' have that amount of competitve players. The right thing is to offer that team place to London, and come try out with the rest of us.
i booked the place...as i said i would be one of the two that would book a place. i simply did what was agreed. of course there was confusion about that cos of the website fuck up. but! Roxy has asked me not to drop that space at the mo, unsure what her plans are for it but i can let yous know, she is calling me the morrer...

I'm cool with this Nes. I think it's a good idea, and no harm in playing early at whitworth but making sure we all get to chorlton for 3.

i dont think we should promice to defo go to chorlton, if we are having a good game at whitworth and its a sunny day we will have to ride to chorlton and there will be people using the court, thats what happened the other week and it was a waste of time and effort, plus there were no new players waiting

I'd rather play @ chorlton if it's a nice sunny day, so i have no issue with this. But there will always be the whole "court occupation" issue. If it's sunny i'd be up for getting to chorlton early for some games, i think it's a nicer place to chill. But yeah, if we get there and it's occupied and there are no newbies then it's a problem.
Nes, perhaps the best way is to not have it set in stone so much. Keep sunday for a social polo day yeah, but make sure people are aware that we might have to play elsewhere...
Any other ideas?

hey sorry for being a ras clot lastnight guys, shit day at work and all that... Erm I'm with nes on the polo social, chorltons the best place for it and we do need a place set in stone. ppl who dont play know where we'll be, not have to chase us around south mcr, check the forum, wait for a tx msg and all that bullshit.

• #1594
But what about the fact wewere in PF last night, and have checked PF all the thursdys we havnt played there, yet noone else turns up?
-
• #1595
If we want more ppl to join in we need to go flyer and make an effort. Stopping by pf to see if anyone's there doesn't count and last night wasnt exactly going out to ride weather. Ppl will only clock us if there's a load of us playing for a prolonged time. So make sunday the come down check it out day and have during the week for the regulars. THe fact that we'v not had anyone new at pf is cos we dont play there much and no one new is gonna hang round waiting for us to not show. I hope thats the case anyway and not that theres no one else interested in bike polo. How did you guys find out about it? Whats the most effective way of getting more ppl down? Are we up for flyering?

I found out through the web, just sort of new about it. i guess its sorta true, we went to witworth last mya and noone turned up, and then we didnt bother lookign into it again untill feb of this year...
Id do some flyering/top tubes -

i think woody is referring to the fact that thursdays 6pm at PF is already on the posters and flyers but (despite nes saying people ring her and text) noone is ever there when we look.
it would be a lot easier to get the details of the people who contacted nes and contact them directly ourselves...
we all started playing through this forum. i just don't think people in manchester are that into it, think how many spectators there were at the tournament, it doesn't seem any of them have thought after watching it that they would like to play. anyone i speak to about it think it's too dangerous.
i think a good way of recruiting more players would be to start societies at the unis, if people play ultimate frisbee seriously, surely we could get some polo players!
I think we should get the flyers sorted, finalise what is going to be on them and then leave a load in bars, shops etc.
also didn't someone say some of the courier lot said they would be building up polo bikes after watching the tourney. think ste said that.

im up for starting a uni society (i guess its too late for u and biles and ben) just need to know how to do it, and im pretty sure u need to have a minimum number of student Id numbers sayign they like it or sumin, before they accept it, maybe i will just ahve to get them off all my mates or something?

Lets having a meeting about this, with nes there. We can decide whats on the flyer ect...
We can do it this sunday. Also, sorry for not showing up last night, my internet was down and i assumed no-one would be up for it because it was pissing down. Did anyone go out?
i suggested to ben that we change the "social" polo day to the sunday as people seem to agree that playing at chorlton every sunday at 3pm would be a stayer so it could be a more sustainable thing to put on a poster...it also means we can have nice socials throughout the summer like bbq's and shizzle if there aint no drizzle...
lemme know if yous agree with this. obv if people wanna play elsewhere earlier on sundays that's ace so long as 3pm at chorlton can be a new defo time and day to be a polo social..innit.
then people that come to that can discuss where and when other practises are taking place throughout the week, swap numbers etc...
it seems to me like a perfect plan but lemme know your thoughts.
