I'm going to be in the market for a new frame soon, and have about the same amount to spend (£250).
I've always quite liked the look of these. I've seen a few around london, who's got one/ridden one, and what are they like?
+1, really like the look of the nelson but i'm put off by the red, white and blue... does anyone ride the nelson, what's it like?

That's like the time I was rubbing my fixed down broad street in my best sunday get up, and was hailed by a jolly old chum of mine, Rupert Higgin-Botham III.
He hailed me thusly:
"Henry Old bean, is that you, rubbing one of these new fangled velocipedes I see."
So I pulled this fucking gnarlyarse skid and rocked up to the old feller and said:
'Why yes dear crumpet, it is, don't I look fucking sick as I pull all these massive skids, and are we still on for that croquet match on Balliol Lawn Saturday?'
"Why yes, dear thing, do you mind if I bring Fanny Featherswill?"
'Not all all my man, the more I see of Fanny the better.'
"Oh, Henry do you have to be so Vulgar"
'Why no, sorry Rupert, may I say that is a rather natty suit you are rocking today'
"Why thanks, I always thought it looked terribly dope with my vans half cabs"
'Indeed'
"Quite"
'Well dear fellow, I must be off, I have a golf match with Old Dicky Cartwright, you know that frightfully nice American Chappie?'
"Oh a colonial, I didn't know you associated with such beings"
'Oh come now Rupert, don't be like that'
"Well I'm sorry. Good day to you sir"
'Indeed'
"Quite"
'Laters!'True story.

I went in there once, and everything in the shop was upside down.

Yeah I seen it, i'm gonna have to give it a shot when I get home, I was considering doing what you're thinking about there, but I wanna start racing on the track so I don't really want anything except a purpose built track frame.
Was so close to getting this but decided against it for the reason I stated above: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&item=260404268132
i think i must of been one of the first to find this, then i decided against buying it so posted it here. . . nice frame that!

If I was 5 ft 10, Id be looking at 55cm frames, but I guess you have time to grow into it so a 56/57 might not be that bad. get properly measured up or use this http://www.competitivecyclist.com/za/CCY?PAGE=FIT_CALCULATOR_INTRO
i just did the fit calculator, and it gives me different types of fits like the competitive fit, the eddy fit and the french fit...
what do they mean? -

maybe click on what do these fits mean. . . . eugh god people are so lazy sometimes, apologies if u hadnt seen that. . . but still take a look man!

tbh I think converting dropouts is a red herring I wouldn't worry about it. Although it does look better Im pessimistic about the whole process
+1 you can still regulate chain tension with forward facing dropouts, its the head tube angle and BB height that make the difference with track frames. Changing to track ends would only be an aesthetic change really..
