@Jeanmi:what rims are those on your bike? are they grey or black?
-

ah very nice
yer it was very good, I had seen a lot of fashion photos before (my folks are friends of his) but it was great to see all the older work. Nice mix of people, great studio as well!

@ eddie don't know whether to show the missus your build, it might set her expectations too high for my current attempt on her behalf. Very impressive! Do you mind if I pm you with lots of questions? (in one pm of course not in a mad stalker kind of multi pm'ing way!?!)

Black! - Araya RS430 - Pretty flexy - but picked them up off Roberto for £40... so pretty good.

Oh yeah, about the worst puppykill in history, what's the red bit attached to the seatpost? Also, as someone else has pointed out I'm sure, why is the only bit of the bike left untouched from the original, the worst bit of the orignal, the shite saddle? It would be funny if it wasn't tragic:-(

lady bike so far. still got more to do but my girlfriend loves it already. and only €50 spent so far for everything.

@ eddie, thanks, I'll get my questions together. A red knog, at least he's remained true to his colour scheme 'vision'.

Stunning, my favourite type of (apple) green. I think some bar tape, just on the drops will give it an even more aggresive look. Great build, lovely clearances, just hoping it rides as well as it looks ;)

the long term plan is to get a surly steamroller down the line when I have the money then get this frame 'properly' restored by BJ and move my geared stuff off my other peugeot onto this or sell it on. All the braze ons are staying as is and the current paint scheme/condition is NOT worth keeping. The powder coat will protect the frame more than fannying around with nail varnish and I have already asked BJ about getting replacement decals.
It will in no way end up like the travesties above and by the looks of the pics their paintjobs didn't need any work good or bad. It will have a rear white deep v (with the hipster tyre replaced with something more sensible and the vinyl check pattern removed) on a DA hub with DA cog, Truvativ chainset, front Normandy track hub with and open sport rim, silver quill stem and black fuji track bars and black dirt harry lever working an alhonga deep drop dual pivot. The houndstooth framepad is NOT coming across from the other bike. Basically stuff I already have bar one or two cheap purchases. So.... dry your eyes.
If you're really worried about rust, just do an oxalic acid bath...and framesave it. that will remove 99.99% of the rust and prevent rust from happening again...and be 10x cheaper and probably offer more protection than powdercoating since powdercoating doesnt actually treat/remove the rust...it just covers up the problem. you wont have to tarck up your vintage frame and ruin a sweet, original paint job...

And while i'm in the mood - here is next project.
Not sure where it's going yet - but it has horizontal dropouts - so will be SS for sure - will probably try fixed too - but as it's for street and dirt, i'm not sure how practical that will be...
is that a chameleon? They're nice frames, good for everything. Those DJ forks weigh a tonne - got them on my cannondale chase I'm selling soon.
Not sure about a fixed DJ bike though, how would you pump the transitions?!

you don't even need to spend that much to build up a stunning bike, just try and find a lugged town bike, spend age cleaning it up, replace certain bits, put those thick gumwall tyres etc.
you're sorted.

Re: my BJ.
That paint scheme is a respray itself. Done in the nineties so there's no point getting sentimental about a colour scheme that's not original and in a condition worth less than 1 out of ten. The shot blasting before the coat will remove rust and keeping the braze ons for future use is not tarcking it up. Its a means to keep the frame in use which is the most important thing.

My new frame arrived, I had to build it up and take it for a ride using parts I have lying around, quite an improved riding position and geometry than the puch I have been abusing. some nice detail to it. some dodgy paint touch ups on it though which is a shame. needs to be adorned in campy really (except for the NittoB123 handlebars I have ordered)
A quick artists impression of what it may end up looking like. but not too sure yet...
need a shunt in the right direction. -

give it gears! :P

give it gears! :P
I think I will do eventually. I'd like to fork out for a chorus gruppo (which was on it originally apparently) just riding it around fixed for the moment. planning on doing a france trip, so this geared up may be the correct steed...

is it just me, or does that photo angle make the front wheel look rediculously massive?
