Use an elliptical sectioned tyre on the rear. Preferably one with semi-slick sidewalls.

Soma Everwears are built for skidding!
You could also go for a odd numbered chainring on the front as this would then put the skid marks in different places on the rear - Soma do a 47t, there maybe others out there if your BCD doesn't suit.

I've had a red ultrasport up front for like 2 years and it hasn't worn in the slightest yet. also realised I only have 5 skid patches with 48-15, hence the quick death of many tyres.

I meant sports contact, not ultrasport

I've been riding a Fuji Track 2008 for about 4 months now and I've suddenly started to get loads of punctures.
The stock tyres are well known to be pretty dire but can anyone recommend a good upgrade? I don't want to really spend too much on upgrades at this point but some guidance on entry - mid level tyre options would be good.
I was thinking of maybe tryin the Continental Grand Prix as they seem to be about £20 each and the reviews are alright - anyone have experience with these?

go for some soma everwears! they skid like butta.
Armadillo rear, Gatorskin front. cheap tyres are false investment, really expensive tyres are a shit investment.
