  • I think people are entitled to their views if prices seem to high, but i think those of you who are criticizing TFG are missing the point.
I have known max for quite some time now and have been buying from him ever since he established TFG. What you have to understand is that he buys all his product straight from Japan therefore the weakening of the £ against the yen has hugely effected his prices and because of this his prices must go up.. that is business.. he runs an independent business and cannot buy huge amounts of stock and compete with larger businesses.
Since day one he has sourced fantastic product and has given many of us access to parts and frames that otherwise we would not get in the UK.
TFG will continue to grow and in my eyes is setting the standard for all track bike boutiques in Europe, i am sure when the £ recovers you will see prices drop.
i bought my vivalo 2 years ago from TFG and got it dirt cheap, i could sell it for more now second hand than i what i initially paid for it new.

If you dont like quality products stop hating and go buy some mass produced factory bullshit from your local chain store..

  • for the record, it's not the quality that's being disputed, just the prices!

  • Max, the rims and wheels are spot on, and way below what I would have payed, again max sourced me some real good second hand rims so for me it worked out good.

  • FFS....get over the allen key thing eh?

    Is this a good price?

    TFG £57 for a Nitto S65 post?

A Japanese online store is listing them for £43 before shipping at the current exchange. To get that seat post guaranteed from their shelf to you desk for less than £14 is very difficult. Maybe it is a reasonable price?

Can't find any bargains on eBay myself.

Go in any Muji and check the original price labels from Japan. Everything is marked up to double the original price.

  • i did the dunwich dynamo on mine too without any complaints.

Well no complaints about your bike, your body on the other hand.

Too true...if only my knees were as strong as my brooklyn :)

  • Yes you can buy real nice allen keys from places cheap but if you loved ya tools and you loved colour coding and you really liked how your workshop was layed out,a nd you were stiffler for shit like that you'd spend that much - some people are like that, some aren't

People need to stop finding cheaper allen keys to compare em buy, you gotta compare em buy the manufacturer and find a price for the extact same allen keys before accusing someone on selling allen key's way above price - makes sense don't it!!!!

  • BMW's are nice
    TFG are nice

and to all those people whining about some freaking allen keys, i ask

where's your flourishing independent bike shop?
where's your imported luxury clothing and accessories shop?
where's your beautiful imported bike parts and memorabilia?
where are your still reasonable prices at a time of terrible exchange rates?

its too easy to just criticize, and TFG does a sick job of allowing us access to some of the best quality frames, parts and clothing that we would otherwise not be able to get hold of, and at decent prices too

    yap yap yap

    blah blah blah

dont hate the player, hate the game... issssitt

  • what does it creak?! linkage?

Yep mostly and the headtube makes a groaning noise, the MRP chain device (the old Mk1 one) also makes a hit load of noise. Back in the day DH bikes were just a bit shit. I roide a 2009 Glory DH the other day and it's a different world.

Errr, not being funny. I agree Max does have some nice bits but 99% of it can be bought online anywhere, it's not rocket science

  • The difference being TFG's stuff is actually in London. Not Osaka or LA.

  • anyone know if the new shop in soho has opened yet?

  • ^Judging by the absence of a thread saying how great/shit it is I'd say it's not open yet.
