  • Hiya.
Im obviously new here, so thought id introduce myself and let people know whats happening etc..

My names Tony, live not too far from Brighton in Sussex.
Im 29, been riding bikes, well, same as everyone really, since first able to.

I mainly ride bmx, and ride alot of park, and get all over the country riding.
I also own a few other bikes, so far the collection stands with,

    1980's (ish) Diamant
1996 Kona Lava dome in Orange
    1998 Kona Fire Mountain
    2007 Specialized BigHit DH
    2008 Boardman Road Comp
    2009 Proper TTL Custom bmx
and loads of random frames and bits.

    Onto the project.

Believe this is either late '80's or early '90's Bike.

Bought this from a friend at work as was his training bike for Triathlons and he hasnt raced for years now and was left in his garage.

Thought it would be a good starter project for someone new to the scene.

Ive spent the last few days looking at my options.
Had a ride of a Bowery '84, but was too 'race' for me.
Had a try on a genesis flyer and SE Lager. Very nearly bought the lager in white, but walked away for some reason.
Also looked at a 2008 Langster as was only £320. But im not really into the racer frames.
(I already have a Boardman Road with aero bars hanging on my wall).

Then popped to a shop over Chichester and had a chat to a guy who really knows his stuff.
Was offered a Montana Track frame for silly cheap and then build it up into a decent fixie.
But after really looking into it all, I was never really struck with anything.

I knew I wanted a retro build with an older frame, but wasnt sure how to do it.
So I ended up buying a pair of System EX hubs, Mavic Rims and spokes to suit. Then just the Token 15T cog.

With a bit of a fiddle and a few cups of tea while building the wheels, Ive ended up with the start of the build.
Im still yet to build up the front wheel, but also still have a few other things to do on it.
So far very pleased, and so much fun outside with my brothers pissing themselves laughing.

    SPEC.

    56cm Diamant frame
    Internal cable run
    Campag dropouts with tensioner

    Sanko Fork Blade

any advice and info would be so helpful. Criticsm is always good.

    Tony
