  • The following got stolen from outside the Cut, Waterloo last night (not mine I might add). A White Dolan track champion. With a stealth carbon saddle that you can only get with Time module frames. Other things of note are a bright pink dia-comp 1980's BMX brake lever and Orange MTB rider handle bars (cut down) and white BMX grips and a Miche drilled seat post. Doubt if there will be many like it.

pm me if you see it.

  • Hi, my Giant Bowery 2008 was stolen off me last night. Was walking home with it when 2 guys on a scooter came by rather close and before I knew it had grabbed the bike and drove off with it. Was stunned! Have never heard of this before. Anyway doubt I'll see it again, was fairly standard build but with a specialized ladies saddle as about the only distinguishing mark. Thought I'd report this new (to me) method of bike theft.

Drop me a line if it's spotted

  • WHERE ?

Did you get a registration number ?

where was this? what time of night etc?

  • No didn't get the reg. It all happened so quick. It was about 10 p.m. in a residential street in Islington. There were a few people round plus I was with someone too so it was obviously quite brazen of them to do it. A person who was walking behind us said it was a Pioggia scooter. My friend thinks she saw them driving around later, showing off (speeding about, revving etc.). Probably had stolen the scooter too.

  • This is not very nice at all.

  • so you now need to lock the bike even when you are holding it and walking along with it

  • Blimey, I've never heard of a robbery like this, either. We've had pannier theft by pillion riders on moving scooters, but never complete bikes. Make sure you report it to the police--they've done work before on scooter-based robberies in Islington and may already have leads. Did it happen in the area east of Essex Road?

  • Yeah my NY Fug D lock was in my back pack! I was at least grateful I don't need to buy a new lock!

  • yes that's the area alright, just after the Regents canal, not far from Essex road. My friend called the police later when she saw the bike again and they responded asap. Said there had been a few cases with people getting pushed in the canal (we were not by the canal itself).

  • Just in case it turns up in town: a pal's Orange P7 (steel MTB) was taken from Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton today. Should be note-worthily large since said mate is 6' 5".

Will keep an eye out in Brighton. Get you mate to go see the second hand places, warn them.

  • Cheers Elvis. Turns out the hospital bods have it on CCTV. Interestingly, the chap managed to break an Abus D-lock (albeit not a top of the range one, and it took him a few minutes) using something small enough not to be obvious on the footage.

I live in Islington, halfway along Lpool Road so will keep my eyes peeled for asbo's on a moped. Especially if they have a bike over their shoulder!

  • Missing: 5mm allen key. Reward for its recovery. Responds to the name "where'smyfucking5mm motherfucking allenkeysonofabitchfuckingshitcuntfuckingbastardfuckingshitfuckingallencunttool"

  • Follow up re: Dawes Double Blue.

Didn't see it at Brick Lane or ebay / Gumtree but the insurance look as if they are putting me right in a good way and I'm now drooling over something a bit nice in Tokyo Fixed Gear.

A big thumbs up to City of London Police - they were very sympathetic and definitely wanted to help although with such a wide window of time when the theft took place and lack of well placed cameras in the area they said it wouldn't be worth scouring the CCTV footage.

Gave me advice about what I should do if I spot the bike anywhere - don't confront, call the cops.

Time heals. I'm getting over it now but it's a shitty thing to happen. Two locks from now on. Just make it hard enough so they go somewhere else.

I live on Essex Road so will keep an eye out mate

  • Hi. My bike was stolen on Wednesday night. I'm a student so I'm not exactly rich so I'm a tad annoyed to say the least. It was stolen form the South Kensington area.
If anyone sees it, I would really appreciate you letting me know. It was a:

    Carrera subway 2 trail/track bike
    it had grey/purple frame
with long mud gards on the front and back.
the handle bars and grips were straight
and there was a bell on the handle bars and lcd red flashing light beneath the seat.
I have the frame number too.

Unfortunatley I don't have a picture, but will try to find one online.

    thanks again

  • sorry to hear about that, can you tell us how you lock your bike and what lock you use?
