you can't watch american football, or basketball, or baseball, without feeling the pull of video replay, and the slowing of the game, and those games have been modified to a certain extent to be more focused around television viewing, rather than the fan at the game.
If you bring in video replays for the big decisions, it'll get pulled in for the smaller ones as well, and it'll slow the game down, and then you'll be watching a series of set pieces, which will bore you to tears and resemble football as we know it, as much as richie resembles hugh jackman, so not at all...
