i really dislike the geekhouse forks. the rest of the bikes are gravy, but those forks just look like theyve been cobbled togather. why go through all the effort of doing fancy tapering and bending on the frame, with real smooth welds only to skimp on the forks. i dont get it. theyre headbadges are atrocious as well, which i dont get either.

the welds on the geekhouse forks are as tidy as the rest of the frame

the welding is tidy, but I do agree that it does look like they clobbered a couple of metal and welded it up.

geekhouse forks rule.
i'm gonna order some. -

Pornalicious brazing...

I think the headbadge is whack as fuck but those forks look great-they compliment and signature the frame.
the thing about it being cobbled together is bullshit, have either of you welded? can you imagine how difficult it is to weld cylindrical components of that size at odd angles? they could have brazed it but it im sure they have their own reasons why they didnt. Thats why their there making frames and were here buying them and talking about them on the internet....

it look like it's beenclobbered together, "look" being the operative word.

I do like the placement of the logo on the geekhouse, looks good high up the tube.

on closer inspection the welds are better than i thought. i still think theyre fucking ugly though. why dont they do somthing with a nice crown and some tapering like on the chain stays to compliment the rest of the frame.
im sure alot of consideration went into the making of them, but they look like an afterthought.

I'm going to go out on a limb and leave myself open to attack for knowing next to nothing about engineering type things, but doesn't that semi-pointless?
I mean, sure, it may work well for stopping the forward motion of the cranks, but then you're relying on the ability of the chain to stop the back wheel... sounds both inefficient and somewhat alarming to ride?
Obviously with a fixedgear there's stopping that involves the chain and cranks, but that sounds less abrupt and easier to coordinate in terms of braking and crank motion (in that you don't need to coordinate them when stopping using your legs, whereas I'd imagine using the crank-brake does require a little synchronicity).

well, i've heard a lot of people on here saying that in the uk you need to have two independent braking systems for your bike to be road legal (one of which can be the fix wheel). since both braking systems on the bike rely on the chain they are not independent so not road legal and pretty stupid.
me too...
