  • Thanks again Sam for agreeing to do the ride with me last night. We were done before 10pm!

I don't want to spoil the ride for you but I will say the route has all the TNRC trademarks and more!

The train should be straightforward, just make sure you're the first on with the bikes so you can all get on the carriage with the disabled/bike space. So I'd advise getting there early. You can meet by the Cornish Pasty shop and Boots to satisfy all your pasty and pharmaceutical needs before the ride.

By catching the 19:09, you will get there before sunset and you will relish the peaceful and calming Kent countryside. But, relax whilst you can.

As twilight approaches the feel of the ride changes, the temperature drops and then it starts. Falling branches, total silence, a distant rustle. Then the screams. Oh the screams.... I am still haunted by the shrieks of an unseen monster so unfathomable it could not be of this Earth. Keep your eyes on the road though as you will need conserve your efforts for the ascents. Sam's chain also made some brutally high pitched noise, but I trust he will sort this before the ride.

The penultimate climb is tough and is comparable to anything found on the Surrey Hills.

The approach is quite unnerving. I took a photo on my camera phone last night (no post production) :

I wish you all good luck and bode you well for an unforgettable jaunt through the Kent countryside (of the undead).
