Recommendations, if you want to ride in jeans. And if you've got thighs like Hoy then go for a loose fit with a tapered leg, like a Levi's 503.
If you're not on a budget then Levi's Vintage Clothing 501's from 1955 for the fuller figure, and 501's from 1966 if you prefer a skinnier fit.
On a budget, need something loose and don't necessarily want to end up with a blue saddle, then original Carhartt Workwear Pants, B01. They'll last an eternity. Not from the streetwear stores, buy em from proper hardware/workwear stores.
Failing all that, then a skirt does seem like a good idea ;)
