Looks lovely. I wouldn't bother changing the hoods (they match the decals hey).
Was the frame originally designed for downtube shifters? If so... what did you have to do to get the cable routed on the downtube?

Updated Crosscheck commuter/getter/do it all.
Not sure about the look/width/height of the mary bars but they are so bloody comfy they make me smile. Thinking about a porteur type rack for the front and maybe a Midge bar (if i can find one in stock somewhere) for a different feel. Funds are at the lowest they've been for a while so i guess it will have to wait until ... well, sometime in the future.
It's been through a few changes over the autumn/winter and I can highly recommend it as the most versatile bike i've had.

@Kingcutter-That Bianchi is very nice and a massive transformation.
One minor point, have you done something to the rims? (to make them a better match to the tyres)

Yes indeed did have 105 group with down shifters I came across a pair of converters for the down tube which are DuraAce which I think look really in keeping, with the whole project.

Headset, seatpost and seat clamp change and polish bars, stem and cranks and the Fort is going to be lookin' well tasty, pictures soon ;)

Line the tyre logos with the valves and the crank with the seat tube and get rid of that inferior front tyre.
And get a half-link and make that rearwheel kiss the seat tube :)

Finally stripped the paint of the rear wheel, put up the cranks and chain..now waiting for a similar front wheel(32h) 40mm deep, a nice classic handlebar and stem

Is that a clincher rear shamal track?
-

Woohoo! New frame, cranks and seatpost just arrived! Can't wait to finish work and get it home.
Unknown brand frame. Looks like it's been repainted at some point, but can vaguely make out embossed writing on the rear stays and there's a star embossed on the top of the forks.
Watch this space for pix soon.

that alan really is nice. is the top tube either thin or slightly flat / oval (might just be the pic).

Shamal track's are laced half-radial...
They also have bladed spokes... but it could be a Shamal rim..edit: Actually, that rim doesn't look like a Shamal.. is it 42mm?
-
• #8474
I thought that. And not normally clincher. Interesting!
could be a re-laced shamal track hub on to a R26 rear rim (both 16 spoke right?) -

Machined braking surface too?
dylan,
the frame is purple, for some reason when taking photos inside it came out as a blue purple, looks different in different lights.
