Just to keep the thread going I thought I'd break my fiancees bike last night...
...as per usual I was fixing it to try and keep it going for another month (it's an old bike that we've spent absolutely no money on whatsoever in about 10 years!) I was tightening up the rear brake when the plastic sheathing around the spring decided to fire itself at me in as many pieces as possible. So she now has no bike until I can find a spare brake - again, we will spend no money on this bike!
