The velcro is a big issue. The only way forward is to replace the velcro completely. I have the short finger glove too with the same issue.
I have found that the stitching is also pretty dodgy. I have had to re-stitch mine in places.
I have also come back from quite a few rides with a black face and hands, because the dye is not very permanent, even after a year. I am a sweaty bastard though.
The good points are that they are really comfortable once you get them worn in. They are also very durable and grippy.
