ah cool i need to scrape some funds together at the mo got £110 atm so i can buy the campy headset and the cranks then im getting £250 for my birthday plus other people giving me monmey so i can get the wheel set then il have to sit tight and wait to get more cash for the frame etc :)

Modern frames like the Bianchi Pista will have threadless forks/headset. no good for either a quill stem or that particular Campag Record headet
Also, with square-taper cranks there are 2 taper pitches, Japanese or European. All Suginos are Japanese except the '75', which is euro.
Then there are modern cranks which aren't square taper at all.
And then there thread pitches on Frames. Italian and British are different, so you need to know what your frame is before you buy one.
Take a look on Sheldon's site to get more info.

Cool, I was gonna stick them on eBay in the next week or two, but I'm fine to wait if you're waiting on some money :)

bluequinn - Arghhh buying a frame seems very daunting now :(
EDIT - pifko i should be able to take that crank of your hands :D
-
• #71
TBH If you want a Bianchi Pista frame like you said earlier, it'd be cheaper to buy the whole bike, new - off the peg.
-
• #72
meh :/ i really dont want to buy an otp, i want to build a bike from the ground upwards on preferably a vintage track frame, bianchi pista was a modern frame i liked the look of though! any help on the frame front would be seriously appreciated!

Just buy the frame first and then BB, headset and stem. Sheldon says that Euro and Japanese BB tapers are interchangeable (although they alter the chainline). So go ahead and buy a crank now if you get a good offer.
