Citizen, got it for £50 2nd hand, comfortable, reasonable size (enough to hold a bike frame), and very durable.

dude thats so lame, hes enjoying riding his bike, thats all that matters, and can do whatever the fuck he wants to his bike, just because its not your taste doesnt make it wrong!!just because youre a purist doesnt mean everyone else has to be
I only said what anybody might have said about an anonymous owner on the anti-porn thread. Of course, he can ride a Brooks on the track if that's his choice, albeit an odd one. He can't ride on the road without brakes, because it's against the law as well as incredibly stupid, so that must be a pure track bike, right? In which case, why slow yourself down with spoke cards, because last time I checked all the track races were about going as fast as possible? In other words, in the absence of a logical explanation for his set up, he's a fashion victim.

mitre you are on the wrong forum.
-
• #7059
all im saying is he can ride wtf he wants, how he wants and whatever parts he wants, god you must hate about 80% of the bikes here
-
• #7060
mate, his bike seemed to be perfectly fine, the way I see it, it's simply a normal choice of set-up for an everyday fixed wheel bicycles, the brakes however, are purely horses for courses.

No one has to explain themselves to you.
Fuck off.

Is that what passes for witty repartee here? He doesn't have to explain himself, but if he posts pictures of his bike on an interwebs forum, he has to live with people taking the piss. As indeed I live with people mocking my un-aerodynamic facial hair up thread. All part of the fun.
Actually, I kind of like the fashion for riding on the road without brakes, because it gives me something to laugh at every time some brakeless goon runs into the back of a bus in front of me, something which is nowhere near as rare an occurrence as people would like to believe when they leave the house in the morning thinking their skillz will overcome the simple facts of physical laws.

I doubt that most people ride without brakes as purely for fashion.
-
• #7064
really?

Were you not told? Wind tunnel testing has been shown to improve aerodynamic integrity of spoked wheels and offer a competitive advantage.
Why do you think you have never seen an NJS spokecard?
-
• #7066
People who ride brakeless are hardcore imo
Id love to be at that level one day... -
• #7067
are you being sarcastic?

erm yes i reckon he is.

Yes, but only in still air conditions rarely found outside a wind tunnel. They actually decrease the stall angle, so as soon as there's the slightest cross wind you're worse off than you would have been without them. Zipp are working on some dimpled spoke cards to cure this problem, scheduled for release early summer with an MSRP of $189.99 each.

I ride a Brooks team pro on the track, great saddle.
Does the tester part of your name signify a liking for pointy helmets, tri bars and borderline personality disorders ?

1: I have one, but I'm not convinced it's faster than my aero head (baldy)
2: Comfort and speed; what's not to like? Also, on the basis that the older I get, the faster I was, I can subtract arbitrary amounts of minutes from the times I did before tri bars to get 'equivalent' times to keep the youngsters in their place.
3: I had a a GF with BPD about ten years ago. Not a disease I would wish on anybody. At this distance, I can see the funny side of steering with one hand while dragging a loved one back into the fast moving car she's just tried to jump out of with the other, but it probably wouldn't have been such an amusing anecdote without the fortuitous combination of loose but strong clothing, quick reactions and my outweighing her by 100lb. -
