To be honest matey I'd be tempted to stick around and see what people are selling on here
Most of us tend to accumulate bike parts like squirrels store nuts
Then our women folk get fed up of living in a bicycle workshop
Withhold sex
Forcing us to part with all our little gems
Not being funny
but I could build you a bike by tomorrow
with the stuff I have tucked away

Haha, i think thats what il do, slowly accumilate parts people are selling on here, there must be at least 5 new different things being sold a day on here its like the bay! but Frame is first priority and i want it to either be Cro-mo or classy looking (vintage), nothing that catches my eye on here at the moment and i need to find out what size i need (PLEASE HELP!)
Thanks guys (Smiling budha!),

would £300 be a reasonable price to put towards wheels?

I'm also up for building my GF a secret 'parts-from-the-forum' SS but without hauling her to a shop to measure her. Any idea what frame size to get a 5'11 girl with 36" inside leg?
Thanks in advance.
BTW They are lovely wheels.
-
• #44
how you know the inside leg??? ;)
-
• #45
Erm... she's my girlfriend? I get to look at them everyday.
-

5 11 with a 36 inch inside leg. jesus christ. i'm 6 foot 3 and mine isnt that, my legs must be stumps.
-
• #47
Women generally have longer legs relative to their height. And 5'11 is pretty tall for a girl.
-
• #48
ok measured my self im 5' 10" and have a 33" inside leg

@ Rocker9455
Nitto Dynamic is a nice stem. I have on on mine, and it looks better than the Pearls. takes a standard road bar.
For a 1 inch quill stem you need a frame with 1 inch threaded forks and a 1 inch threaded headset. 1 inch is the standard size for threaded headsets. At 33 inside you need a 54 frame probably.
That frame is good but it would leave you with £140 to spend on everything else.
TBH theres little point getting a wheelset built up from entry level hubs. Either invest more money and get Miche or even Goldtechs on better rims-dt 1.1's or mavic open pros or cxp 33's or just buy an otp wheelset and save yourself the money you will spend on assembly and looking for cheap spokes.
If you buy an arrspok, again you would blow more than half your budget on a piece of doo doo.
As with the rest of the parts you cant really second guess things like 'second hand nitto' you should wait and see what comes up.
£500 will build you a very nice bike out of second hand parts which you will need to spend time looking for. If you blow it on brand new shiny bits your not going to have quality where you need it most.
