Anyone familiar with Timebomb bags? They're from Poland, reasonably priced and to my untrained eye seem to be pretty good...

To be honest I've been a bit miffed lately with the quality of chrome bags. I had one of the old buckle style ones and after 5 years the strap is almost completely frayed through. I emailed chrome about their lifetime warranty but haven't heard a thing back.

Not a Messenger bag but the Alpkit Gourdon range of bags are really good for riding with - fully waterproof and not bank breaking...

Picking up a North Face Base Camp as a stop gap until Scott gets down to me on the Archie's list, had a look at one yesterday and I reckon it'll do all I want of it, hold some stuff and keep it dry ;) Doesn't need to be massive, I'm not a courier but if it holds some cameras, books and tasty treats and keeps thm dry for me (V. important in Ireland) It'll do 'til it's Archie's time

Just added a bag from Schwalbe. Its a bargain £24.46 and partially made from recycled (reject) tyres.
EdinburghBicycleCo-op sell them. I bought a bike from them, and they gave me great service.
Let me just add though that bags that are this cheap, are not expected to last forever....if you get my meaning.
I think the price is cheap because part of the material is free (cast-offs from their production line).
For something really long-lasting and bespoke, get a bag from a manufacturer that you can "talk to".
EDIT:
This bag list now has 66 manufacturers listed. Lfgss FTW.

I like it though. I think it looks like a cheap and fun bag. Nothing wrong with having a good quality bag, and a back-up cheapie bag is there?

Let you know how it 'actually' is with better pictures.the bit that sold it for me was that its small and has recycled tyre on it, meaning th bottom of it wont get degraded as what happens to most of my bags at present.
also, most of my bags are about this size, perfect for minimalist commuting oh and ye, its cheap as chips.

I like the colour styling and the tyre surround. But looking at the strap attachment, and I can see that the nylon strap is sewn directly onto the rubber. I'm pretty sure that this arrangement will mean that heavy loads will deteriorate this area, sooner rather than later. Also, the top corner looks a bit "gappy", so will want to tuck that in when the heavens open.
Those things said, I may get one, or something along those lines. Even if it only lasted a year, its the same as renting a bag for 2 quid per month, which isn't bank breaking. I'm with you on this one. Cheap, but different enough to be stylish - and good for the environment.
Cheers rik, I've added the INCASE bags. Good find.

good for the environment.
Depends on how long they last really.
It uses far more materials and energy to make all those parts into a complete bag....it has brand new vinyl (printed),new webbing, strap pad, buckles, edging etc...then there's all the materials, time, and money required to promote the bags....they then need to be delivered to all the stockists in lorries...price tags made and stuck on...handed over to the customer in a nice carrier bag.
Then if the bag starts to split, tear, break down more quickly, or just doesn't perform as well as the customer hoped, they'll then go out and get themselves something that was designed and built to last a lot longer and be more comfortable, and that one will most likely end up binned. So yeah, the 'good for the environment' bit isn't as straight forward as just recycling some old tyres.
Cynical i know, but i'm in a glass half empty mood today...not that i could afford a glass! :) -

Picked this up the other day. As my bike is out of action I haven't had a chance to really give it a test run but I went out to the shops on BMX with it last night and it produced and admirable effort. Filled it up with a serious amount of groceries, vegetables, three bottles of varied oils, loaf of bread, wheel of cheese, jarred goods etc. and it was bloody heavy by the time I'd filled it!! Quite comfortable to wear, no padding on the main strap but it has a grip/pad that slides on it and the stabiliser strap works just fine. The zip around the top flap is a bit difficult to close when the bag is full as you have to zip it up over the bend at the top of the flap which is a little awkward but to be honest I don't think you'd need to zip it often as the clips do just fine.
All in all for the money this is a great bag, it's not going to be a patch on any of the fine products available at Grobag towers I'd imagine but for such a cheap bag there really is nothing wrong with it at all and I actually quite like how it looks to boot ;)
Can't wait for my Grobag though :)

Yeah managed to fit a surprisinng amount of goodies in there!! It's not gigantic and it doesn't really expand but it's a good enough size like, coupled with that it looks cool and it's really cheap! Good value for money!
They're still over £200 if you can't.
;)
