I generally ride mostly on drops so I'm definitely wanting 38s.

Get them from on-one/planet-x and ride them until you find someone you can go in on a powder-coating session with. The Fuji comes with an ahead stem so that should minimise scratches when installing. Keep your old bars for when the Nittos go in for a `coating. I should add that I have no former experience in this matter. :)

That sounds like a plan, it just seems like such a shame to paint over decent Chrome.
