A site that's done this really well, IMO is http://www.backpackgeartest.org/. They're thorough, informed, unbiased, and the site has a really good, simple design and a nice RESTish URL scheme.
I particularly like that "Initial impressions -> Field test -> Extended field test" scheme for testing durability.
I'm happy to do reviews. I can spell both "vertically compliant" and "horizontally stiff", which makes me more qualified than the comic.
