I have finally sorted it all out and now have:
36 x 26...
(not quite as spinny as you'd think as I have 27inch wheels and 170mm cranks, still according to sheldon 36.4 gear inches)
13 skid patches... if I was actually able to skid... (I can always put it up to 39 and have 26 patches, 52 if ambi skiding...)
From playing at wests (where it was 2v2 and a massive pitch) I'd say it's not too spinny at all.
and with the double chain ring and fixed/fixed hub I currently cycle home on a 42x19, but I'm going to try to squeeze a 16 in it's place... failing that a 17 will certainly fit.
Oh and the larger chain ring acts as a bash gaurd! :-)
