The machinery itself isn't lethal, it's the way people use it that lethal. Stating the obvious, really.
I agree to a point, but the machinery is designed in such a way that its use is very likely to be dangerous, with huge turning circles and poor visibility from the cab.

Does anyone know what's happened on Old Street/Goswell?
I can see a shitload of fire engines, ambulances and a cement mixer - I think it's probably a cyclist (can't face going out to check)

one of my co-workers said it was a cement truck vs cyclist- he said it didn't look good

I just rode past this, pretty grim. Someone stuck under the back end of a cement mixer. It had turned left from old street onto goswell. Fire brigade are there with equipment to try to free them but they werent doing much, paramedics were working on them doing constant heart massage, doenst look good.
Didn't see a bike but there were a number of fairly distraught looking cyclists around there and something cordoned off behind blue sheets. -

Just rode past. Doesn't look good. No sign of cyclist, but the bike looked to be in a right mess.

Let's hope this isn't as bad as it sounds. But can we please not speculate too much until we know exactly what has happened? It sounds dreadful but let's wait and see.

I arrived just after the accident. The scene was chaos with a lot of very distressed pedestrians and cyclists. Just utterly awful.

Just come from there - white 'London Concrete' cement mixer lorry stopped halfway turning left into Goswell Road - alot of warning signs on the back and double mirrors on the lorry - one mangled up bike to the side of the road . I kept going and didn't ask any questions - shaking abit typing this ... I really hope its not as bad as it looks.

Why wait for the facts? Let's just pile in with a lot of unsubstantiated claims, anecdotes and spurious data.
Hm, there's usually a bit of confusion in initial reporting, let's wait to see what comes out.
The machinery itself isn't lethal, it's the way people use it that lethal. Stating the obvious, really. Better driver training, better HGV design, better mirrors, better working conditions for drivers, etc.--are all factors that need to improve for the whole situation to improve.
