  • nope - on YOUR bike. one shop in brum, one in london.

the carrier thing allows you to change your sprockets more easily (ie without splitting a lung leaning on a chainwhip). you screw the 'carrier' on, then the cog slides on its splines. the lockring holds it in place. more important for track riding i guess, but it's s nice feature for less money than shimano cogs.

  • Sounds good to me. Do you need a special tool to get the carrier off? I should just look it up myself shouldnt I really, but limited time in the library internet centre thingy

  • what number breadford street are you? town end or bordersly end?

i need to get a wheel transplant. would you be able to fit it for me? ive got the new wheel to put on by the way, but it needs some new parts.. either a smaller cog on the hub.. or a larger chain ring and chain combo.

  • The Miche Carrier cogs do not need a special tool to be switched, the carrier bit remains on your hub and the lockring holds the cog on it. You just need a lockring tool. They are good quality and have been getting on well with mine. But they do have some 'play' in them, they rock slightly on the carrier. I do not mind this, but those fond of supertight chains and no slack might not get on with it.

Thomas: OYB is right at the bottom of bradford street just before the chinese supermarket across the road from 'mooch' furniture shop.

  • 33-40 bradford street, pretty much opposite the anchor pub, hiding behind the bus stop.

we can certainly swap a wheel around. if you buy the bits here, labour charge will be reduced from the usual £8-£15.

dfp - are you sure the 'play' is in the sprocket? they seem totally locked in to me. could it just be chain slack?

  • Nope, they may indeed be snug when new but it doesnt last.

  • cool thanks dan. i'll be in sometime next week when ive scraped some cash together!

  • how much do you charge to relace a pair of wheels out of interest? Radial front and 3 cross back, velocity on formula hubs if that matters.

    thanks

  • sorry for the delay responding fred, that'd probably be 2x wheelbuilds at £25 each. if you need new spokes you're looking at around 85p (1.15 if we have to order) each. if it's just replacing rims we can knock some money off the labour.

  • just in just in just in. finally.

miche primato chainset! 165mm. square taper. £115. only one at the moment, but more should (hopefully) follow.

  • do you have that specialized body geometry thing that measures yo sitbones?

  • yeah, but they're bontrager

  • Hi Dan,

Can you order in all Mavic stuff? I am after a pair of silver CXP33 32hole for a wheel build.

  • we sure can. i'm not in work today though so can't tell you a price or if they're available right now. you can give me a call tomorrow 0121 666 6933

  • DWS - Dropped in earlier to show off the Dolan. Will drop in tomorrow to sort out some toe clips.
    :)

  • Sweet.Pistaboy are you on Bradford Street? Fancy a pint later?

  • just built - 32h system ex fixed/fixed hub, mavic ma3 NOS rim 700c £85. shiny.

  • also, MKS sylvan track pedals - £24.99

  • anyone looking for cranks? we've finally got some miche primato, 165mm, 48t, £116.99.

any day now: miche express wheelsets, £190.

  • Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeet.

  • Dan, do you have any ss 29ers in stock? i'm after a marin hamilton to replace my rusty trusty SS. I see '08 ones online for £249, i'm looking for a pricematch.

Hang on, do you even sell marins?

  • Last time I was in they stocked Marins in a big way.

  • we have an '09 muirwoods 29er in stock 20.5" and £425. we wouldn't go anywhere near the price you've seen i'm afraid. 08 models were considerably cheaper than 09 (as is the case with all imported bikes) as it is, but that price seems ridiculously low. where did you see it out of interest?

  • sorry i meant hamilton 29er. i always confuse marin names.

  • its at cyclesurgery, and je james have them for about 300 i think. did you see any of the 08 ones? i heard the gearing was ridiculously low, the frame looks pretty rugged though.
