  • they have some really lush bunnies in ikea for £1.99 each.

  • So guys, do we know what's going on with numbers to call, etc? I have a client at 3 p.m. today so if it's calling that must be done, I must have notice of it soon. After the client leaves there will be very little time to call before 5 p.m. Alternately, I'll call on Monday, as well.

I think that if donations are not going well then we could just ask everyone taking part to either contribute a certain amount of cash (my option, I can't send money through paypal w/o the recipient incurring charges) or bring a certain amount of choc-o-late.

    PM for my cell number.

  • For carriage, London Bicycle down at Gabriels Wharf do trailer rental at £8 for the day. Might be better than bin bagging them around London. I seem to remember them being pretty decent people so they may be willing to do a deal for charidee minded event. Also, the LCC have a trailer as well. You could send a message to lcc Charlie to see if they are in a generous mood.

    Donation made btw

  • Trailers are too slow...i can get round more places in less time with my regular bike and bag on a saturday in london.
    Thanks for the ideas though.

  • top idea scott. count me in.
i have a pannier frame-thing and occy straps on the back of my bike, can fix a big enough box to it no worries.

i will bring chocolates with me to add to the pile (have no pounds to donate sorry, but i can buy chocolate with my australian credit card!)

brilliant idea and would love to get involved. i make a mean chocolate cornflake nest and am happy to spend time on Good Friday knocking out a few dozen, if you think they might appeal?

  • Hey Cara...great to see you on here!
    Hope everything is going ok?
You still need to come over and 'shoot the shit' :)

  • @fitzy....i'm sure they'd appeal...even if they're just for the staff at the homes/hospitals who i'd love to be able to offer choc too aswell as they all do a great job.

  • Magic plan man!
i'd love to go but have a wedding on the same day

  • ok, bulk purchase of cornflakes on order! yum - better carry a few for deserving chefs and riders (this is a thinly veiled excuse to do lots of tasting throughout the cooking process, after all..)

    :)

  • it will be obvious then 3 days hard cooking results in three small conflake cakes (one with the corner bitten off)

They have a HUUUGE bag of chocolate eggs (mini ones) at Shep market, these would be easy to hand out. i think they are mini eggs (factory rejects by the look of it) not quite sure what can go wrong with an egg but there you go

  • ^ is that SheBu market Pip?

  • not quite sure what can go wrong with an egg but there you go

Yeah, your mum said the same thing!

  • cheers for the steer greasy, you been shopping in bulk for personal use? remember, a moment on the lips, a lifetime on the hips..

(obviously i will conveniently 'forget' this piece of advice when taste testing...and of course, will be cycling off the evidence)

  • The man from Cadbury...he say NO!

I was hoping they'd maybe donate some eggs, but looks like we're on our own :(

@ Phil....could meet at easties pub before my slam to wests continues...gonna have to be about 5:30 if that's ok with you?

according to tesco website buttons eggs are 2 for £1 unless i read it wrong...which is highly possible :)
donations are pretty slim though right now :(
i said DONATIONS ARE PRETTY SLIM!
    ;)

Sorry, been away so have only just seen this thread, looks like you're pretty much sorted, don't want to hijack a scheme that clearly other people have put a lot of work into but have a couple of ideas that might help.

First off, as Cadbury's said no, how do people feel about easter bunnies rather than chocolate buttons? Have just seen that Lindt are based in Feltham, if others give the okay I'm happy to call them on Monday to see if they'd be willing to play ball.

If Lindt say no, how about approaching Harrods? They sell chocolate and and I think have a track record of supporting these kind of things. Not suggesting you do any more to promote Harrods than deliver the eggs/bunnies from Harrods shopping bags, but can appreciate that others may feel this is going too far and too much of a compromise. If people are happy about this, again I'd be willing to call them tomorrow.

If we get nowhere with Lindt or Harrods, how about approaching Tescos/Sainsburies, not for a donation, but to see if they'd be willing to sell eggs to us at cost? Again I'd be happy to follow this up.

One last thought, again this may be a complication too far, with the best will in the world, no matter how inconspicuous you try to be dressed up in bunny ears, delivering easter eggs you're going to be a bit of a spectacle. Would it be worth capitalising on this by approaching one of the childrens charities to get a couple of shaking boxes to collect donations wherever you stop. Not suggesting you make this a fundraising exercise, but there's likely to be the odd grateful parent/bemused onlooker who wants to do something in return, so if they asked, you could give them the choice of dropping some coins into a shaker box.

However this pans out, good luck, it's a great idea.

  • Thanks for the ideas Adam...but no company will want to donate anything for free without some kind of media attention....because nobody will know they donated so there's nothing in it for them.
Personally i don't want any media attention for this...it's just about people's generosity helping to put a few smiles on a few childrens faces.

We have enough people helping now so delivering is no problem....phonecalls will be made tomorrow hopefully, so it's all good.
    Cheers!
