IME, the stock tyres are surprisingly good. The ones on the nicked bike were on their way out after six months of Whitechapel-Soho commutes but didn't puncture unusually often or give me any Gatorskin-esque moments in the wet. I'm a non-skidder, though, so easy on tyres.
