Its well known that Nokias are particularly popular with female buyers, and that is due mostly to the ease of use of the OS. But, its not a phone maker for the real techies.

I'll leave the future gazing to a professional like badtmy but Microsoft are now alone in charging for their mobile phone operating system.

The main contenders for the next few years will be Linux based, like Apple's iPhone, Google's Android or Nokia's Maemo platforms, or Symbian.
