Was a totally mint night out.
Did anyone else see Hillbilly inadvertantly scare the shit out of that lady by the Thames in Chiswick? He turned down another path and rode past her, she screamed, dropped her bag and then looked slightly confused that all was ok. I couldn't stop laughing afterwards, she must have thought we were all up to no good or something.
That was amazing, I've never heard an old lady screaming in fear before...
I've been wasting my Saturday nights -

Just to say thank you to everyone for a memorable ride, pace was fine for me but then I was the interloper on the MTB (carrying a track pump for reasons too dull to explain). I'll definitely be back for more, just got to put my money where my mouth is and get me that bike I've been looking for.
For what it's worth, best bits for me were:
-Charging through an unlit park up by Barnes following a stream of flashing red lights trying to pick out obstacles with the bream from my front led.
-Some pedestrian on one bridge shouting "what are you doing?" and having 30-40 people shout back in near perfect unison "riding our bikes".
-Waiting in Parliament Sq for Big Ben to strike midnight, then leaving on-mass, bikes flooding onto Westminster Bridge approach from every direction, it looked like an invasion.
-Having missed the Millenium Bridge (never spotted the left turn) pulling up to the lights on Lower Thames St with the other half of the ride coming the opposite direction.
-Having a beer and a chat outside city hall at 1 o'clock in the moring (I'm terrible with names but the guy with the Pearson Frame I owe you a beer mate). -

track pump saved our lives at battersea!

i was relieved at the pace would prefer to go home with the satisfied feeling of being shattered after a proper ride than, cruise along putting on more calories than im burning by having a beer every 2 mins, plus it was way to cold to hang about, that said im sorry some people got left behind /lost and maybe some pre arranged stops to allow people to skip bridges if they get left and meet us would be good for the future
critical mass and monopoly next! -

Hello folks,
I had a great time so thanks to all involved....
Got left at start due to light issues. Found Multigrooves in similar situation so we rode like the wind (me trying to keep up with him) through Chiswick and Hammersmith with help of a taxi (they're not all bad...) who gave us directions to Putney bridge. 10 minute wait then we saw you all streaming over and then joined the ride again. Thanks multigrooves great effort...
Much better pace this time and really enjoyed it all.
Peace and Love,
Tim -

For me the funniest moment was the unexpected stairs as we were riding by the river, cue last minute bunnyhop, followed by couple of people behind me nose diving down them and someone screaming stairs back at people hahaha, I think Jonny Fitz actually pulled an accidental nosewheelie going down them also..... awesomeness.
Might have been me screaming 'Stairs!' I knew they were there but wasn't too sure about those that hadn't done the ride previously.
Nice evening out, especially rolling with some peeps I'd not seen for awhile as well as the usual suspects.

haha i nearly got caught out on those stairs too! but luckily someone shouted just as i apporached them. i wouldn't trust my bike/wheels/tires to hop down anything..haha. enjoyed the shouts, LOOOOGGG!! haha. had an awesome night, i was misinformed that it would be a slow ride, but it worked out at a good pace for me. i was dubious about the distance, but apparently i need about 40 odd miles to warm up...i somehow managed to leave hillbilly trailing in a sprint over london bridge on the way home! can't see that ever happening again tho...haha. hello to everyone i chatted to, it was ace to meet so many people. my apologies, i'm terrible with names! can't wait for the next one!

Jim was gutted that you managed that. Expect him to drag you to the track in the near future. -

Who was the guy on the Fluro bike, pink frame yellow forks, he was on the memorial ride too, I need to know what that frame is coz I'm loving the colours! Anyone?

Any photos up yet ???

Great ride. I thought the pace was ok, but I spose planned stops for people playing catch up would be a good idea for next time. IMO slower rides are better suited to warm & sunny days, not brisk spring evenings/nights.

My first forum ride and I absolutely loved it. Great route and a great bunch people. A big thank you to all involved for making it such an awesome evening.
For what it's worth, I thought it was a pretty fair pace. Brisk but comfortable - and I'm far from being the strongest of riders. I think any slower might have been a bit chilly and, for me at least, less fun.
I was actually really impressed with the number of people who took the time to hang back a bit to make sure that those behind didn't get lost - they certainly saved me from ending up in some of the less-explored parts of West London.
It's a shame that despite this people still got dropped. I think the suggestion that there should be more pre-arranged stops (or even just the same number, but more widely known about) for people to catch-up would really help.

note to guy with girlfriend on ride both wearing orange at one stage.
raise your saddle sir
looked like it was very low, and your legs never got truly extended
you'll end up getting knee pains if you keep it that low.Could have been me, I was in orange (on occation), not sure about girlfriend's colours, I had a low saddle on a frame that's too small for me, stupid wide flat bars, long reach brakes that reach too far, and 42x19 gearing... it's for polo (could have been worse could have had the wheel the wrong way round and been spinning a 42x22 :-)
Finished putting the bike together at about 6pm on saturday, didn't notice that i'd not tightened the seatpost enough till I got to richmond park... along with everything else wrong with it, the low seat is the least of my worries... anyway after a couple of guniesses and vodka/lucazades, it became very comfy :-)
