LFGSS Jersey (My Little Pony idea)

Well, as much as a loose collection of misfits could have a cycling club.

There was talk over at scott's place about how cool it would be if the forum had some colours (a race strip, etc) for those taking part in track events, time trials, and just for the seriously long rides when it's kinda nice being able to spot people and ride as a pack based on colours.

And so I jokingly proposed a My Little Pony themed LFGSS strip, because wouldn't it just be the bomb to not only not take it all too seriously, but if wins happen to beat those who are taking shit seriously whilst being Pony powered. I imagine a piss take of the Ferrari stallion, with a big butt, a cute wink and wings. And perhaps take the piss out of Rapha and make the strip black with the pony being pink?

Dunno, those were just the first thoughts that came to mind and they made me chuckle.

Point is though, do we want to notionally create a cycling club? It would be to give anyone who has no colours to ride under a banner to call their own, and to have a laugh taking the piss out of Velo Londres and London Dynamo. Beers at the finish line, some sense of identity or something.

I'm 50/50, I don't race so part of me doesn't care. But then there's part of me that thinks that it would be such a laugh it's almost worth starting again (just to lose, but that's because I only ever lost when I raced crits).

Not being a member of any cycling club as I am not that pro active it would be nice to have some kind of kit for the long day rides/track meets etc so yes from me.
Like the lighthearted angle as well.

I'm out since I'm whoring myself between too many clubs as it is..

To be a bona fide club you might have to affiliate to CTT , BC etc . This may require you to have insurance. meetings , minutes , risk assessment and all the rest

will there be an alternative to the shirt with skulls, flaming bikes and old english typography on?
i'm not a student anymore and i don't drink beer out of cans. so a dapper alternative would be nice.

A further point , perhaps we don't need more clubs but more of us to join clubs.

But, I can understand not joining a club given how some clubs treat new members; which is why we are on a forum.

Oh that sounds genius. If not My Little Pony then perhaps something in a style that could only grace a canvas of black velvet - like a Pegasus in flight with lightning and a mountain.

I would love to be part of a pony peleton. Seeing as a lot of us are planning to do the Dragon Ride. Team LFGSS. I can see myself now, dragging Greasy up the climbs so he can sprint for the win (or something).

Sounds like a really good idea, would definitely be interested.

Why not have a tweedy type colours?

I'd love to do the strip thing, although I wouldn't go for a my little pony style thing.

It's true that you have to be a member of a CTT affiliated club to ride certain TTs, but you don't have to wear their strip. A lot of people in open TTs come from clubs but will wear any number of colours, foska ones are certainly quite popular.
