I don't have a £3k bike, but I am conscious of the fact I'm not a natural road rider, having ridden DH and BMX all my life. I want to do some structured training over the summer to get a base level of fitness so I can do some of Oliver's overnighters, but don't like the idea of being 'judged' just because my CSC jersey fits more snugly than it should, and I don't like lycra shorts.
Seriously - there's nothing harder than taking a step into a world where you feel like you don't fit in, and everyone's fitter, faster and riding more expensive bikes than you.
I don't know whether I've got a point to make here, but at the end of the day, if a Colnago is a good way of feeling better about yourself, then hey, buy a Colnago.
This thread does make me anxious, if I'm honest.
