gormley, levy's the one that sold on Carrick. From the guardian podcast, but supposedly Carrick was happy, ready to stay went into contract negotiations, asking for a bit more money, spurs best player, fulcrum of team and all that, Levy thought he was asking for too much, got offer from ManU sells on for big profit.
When profit comes before building a good team, then your in the wrong business, balance the books by all means, invest wisely in a larger stadium, but don't sell your best players if you don't have to. Carrick was our best player and he sold him when he didn't have to or need to, just for the money. He and Harry should get on like a house on fire...
