  • Last friday, loud crack sound, then this...

  • Aw, he's just too modest. Let's see what he's got to say for himself. ;)

Stripped the thread clean off on one side of my fixed/fixed hub (so still got one good side!) folded and flatspotted my back wheel, then hammered it back with a rubber mallet and trued it a bit, still not true but no longer tacoed, destroyed a chain going across london bridge, about 4 links lost rollers before it crumbled and flew off in a few directions. Nothing quite as brutal as you yet Phil, maybe I just land things a bit smoother ;)

My Bmx list of bike destroying is much more impressive tho :p....
1 shattered pedal from a missed wallride.
1 bent set of S&M berringer bars
1 twisted and bent terrible one barcode frame.
One front hub with shattered internals and bent axle plus cracked rim.
    Tacoed rear wheel
    2 bent chainrings.
I gave up bmxin a few years back tho

  • yes!
    yes!
it just snapped. got it welded up though, and a plate put on each side to toughen it up.
and judging by the pic, i'd say 27 feb 07. :)

How the hell do you snap a Pace?! Where you riding with the seatpost too far out of the frame?

I shed a tear every Wednesday. Time is a great healer.

I've had the snapped stem thing too. Not nice, but I feel less loss for my stem than my inner tube.

I feel ya on the inner tube side of things...

I picked up my bike today and found the tyre was flat so I followed the usual routine of 'for fucks sake, I may as well change the tube and fix this one later'. Then when I got the old inner tube out and found this:

Which must mean that the inner tube blew out whilst it was sitting in the yard at work. Then I noticed this:

The tube must have blown through the hole in the rim! I proceeded to put layers and layers of duct tape on the rim, followed by the currently shit rim tape and the new tube.

Has anyone else has this happen? I wish I'd seen/heard it when it happened!

@Kowalski: If you're going to call me Chris then I'm going to call you Lobotomy :-P

  • this one time I was like proper MASHing down a hill and then hit like this mega pothole and it was like so fkin gnarly man. I came flying like 20 fukin yards in the air, landed on my helmet. broke like everything on the bike so just like chucked the whole fuckin thing in the trashcan.

This other time i was like proper stocked after i got a really good party so i like went to playstation on my fix and tried to do a 720 cowabunga fakie backflip, got to like 700, landed on my asss and like fucked the fork prolly style.

  • I can't actually tell whether you're taking the piss or not!

  • Has anyone else has this happen? I wish I'd seen/heard it when it happened!

    Yes indeedy.

It's shit rimtape (oooer Mrs!). The rubber band type is feeble, especially under the weight of a gifted descender like myself. I daresay yer tricks an skids an ting put the thing under similar stress.

Decent rimtape is cheap as chips. Either go for the fabric Velox type or the synthetic Conti/CONdor kit that looks like the gubbins you tie up pallets with.

On the day, that's the real deal.

@Kowalski: If you're going to call me Chris then I'm going to call you Lobotomy :-P

I've been called far worse, Philyss.

So do you reckon that the cog wasn't slipping but the dropout was?

Might explain why the new hub wasn't doing the business.

    Are you grounded now?

  • well i suppose my snapped frame could be repairable, it just wouldnt be advisable!

    How's the hols james?

i bet super ted could sort it out

  • I can't actually tell whether you're taking the piss or not!

He's serious... As well as being a badass muthafucka....

  • Yes indeedy.

Nah, I'm on a different frame and I've loctited the shit out of the cog and lock ring - no slippage since (touches wood, corsses fingers, kisses own arse)

i bet super ted could sort it out

It's not worth the metal it's made of! I've got another temporary frame for now anyway - cheers to Stallionlegs there.

  • ^^^If you keep trying to wheelie that thing it's gonna fuck you up before you break it! Honestly I can't even count the number of times you fell off last trixie's haha.

  • gusyup
    pedal overlap ?

  • Are you talking about the above pic? thats me not Gus, Gus is about half the size of me haha.

  • Did the same to a cross as pic in 45 as the delightful feral youth had taken the signs down saying that the road ahead was closed for construction of a new road. The only difference is the front wheel was at right angles which allowed us to ride around in circles till boredom kicked in. Then had to pay my mates brother for replacement bike as had borrowed his that and the scars made it a shit day

  • Nice one guys. Now launch off of it!...O_o

  • All this bike destruction, and he's not even rocking the tree rides yet :p

  • i havent really destroyed anything
    but
i have took bikes apart to rebuild them and never put them back together
i have my xc bike apart and it has been so for a year (i will get round to building it back up , i promise lol)

  • hmm...

  • hmm...

I can sense the anger in your post Phil, that a bike dis-assembler has dared to invade the bike destroyers thread!

I think we should have a bike dis-assemblers thread, and a bike damager's thread

    :p

  • This is my thread, feel my rath!

  • This is my thread, feel my rash!

    Eurggh, I'd rather not.
