  • ...for about 30 seconds before they go cream coloured !

  • haha, yeah some 'normal' tyres would be nicer. And loose the NASA handlebar tape?

Great frame. Is it the frame Cavendish pictured on their blog?

  • it is. via another forumenger...

  • new frame, parts from the bioracer. Still need to swap out the headset and it's done.

    get some white bartape, pls

  • Ignore the haters Fred! ;-)

    I think it's very classy.

  • u riding a 42/16? i ride 46/15 (80.6 gear inches) so 68 inches feels low to me. but everyone has different requirements and abilities.

I ride a 49/19 which is around 69 GI. Gives 20mph at 100RPM I think which is ideal as 20 mph just seems to be my cruising speed. (was the same on geared bikes)

I couldn't live with 80GI as the RPM would be too low, hills would be too hard and braking worse (brakeless)

I also ride a lot of singlespeed off road with GIs of around 56-60 so know all about spinning :-)

Was that you who got it for a (relative) song on ebay then? I was debating whether to bid but it was a bit small for me..............still kicked myself when i saw how cheap it finished at!

  • Another massive bike build coming up 62cm frame.

  • Hello, first post, any of you guys got any spare rings for sale for Sugino 1/8 130pcd,
having trouble finding any in my local bike shops.

  • Twiddler - Go ask in the Classifieds section, Welcome.

  • Sorry, cant do that yet , as i am not allowed to start a new thread (Nursery thing)

    thats HUUUGE

  • singlespeeded and rigidified. it's so much fun.

Very nice , very nice indeed

This is what ive been after since coming back to cycling after a very long time out

  • +1

I'd love to build something like that.

  • Awesome build Fred, looks bang tidy.

  • Work in progress

Still to be done is - bottom bracket, tighten gear & lockring, chain, crankset, pedals, headset, set correct seat angle, chop the bar covers and keep treating the leather, and ride.

Inspired by old Italian racers, this is the bike equivalent of myself. An English frame with Italian bits.

  • Looks real nice whizz. Although nothing looked better than your rourke on that sofa.

You'd used a dutch tilt as well to create a menacing atmosphere with the photo.

    I'll shut up.

    Nice bob.

  • Thanks to Snowy for the frame and El Squire for the fork. A cheap and cheerful build to get a new housemate on the road, parts mostly spares:

(Yes the stem looks iffy, oh well.)

very nizzzeee indeed wizz will we be seeing it monday :-)

  • fucking lovely mate, the lighting does not do jusitice to the bike at all! it´s bright daylight right now, why not take the chance and grab another shot??

  • Finito on my mate's conversion. Nice and simple, nice and cheap.

It's in bits I still need to get it built up.

Geoff the plan was to get the boys at Pearsons to finish the bike off (bottom bracket, headset) as I don't have the tools and to be there on Monday. But I'm in Brixton in the evening with the missus to see John Legend. Pity me. So it'll have to be the week after.

  • Would I be OK to reuse the old-ish Landar brake I have obtained from an old English bicycle? It exactly covers the 65mm drop I have. The brake has no rust on it and the mechanism feels nice and springy. It might be a bit um hard to squeeze together, but then again I have no idea how hard it's meant to be really.

The alternative as I see it would be to buy something like this. But it feels wrong to spend 20 quid on what appears to me to be pretty much the exact same thing as what I have already. Oh, and either way I am stuck being dependent on a fairly rare kind of brake pad right? Anyone knows a way round this?

Anyone feel like recommending a new brake lever while we are at it? Budget price is key here...

  • a bit heavy, but very good brakes, of course you can reuse it

  • it's perfectly usable, you can even buy new brake pads for it, one thing thought is that it required a cable stop that's either attached to the frame or the headset;

unless you know that, ignore me.
