    I think if a cyclist visibly slows down, they sometimes implicitly offer vehicles (whose drivers happen to be up to then paying Due C. and A.) some leeway to pull out, which they sometimes take. Maybe the driver wasn't looking. Maybe the driver didn't care. I think mikec has the confidence to assert his space and all power to that. Nontheless there's need to be careful of getting tempted to purposefully neglect our intangible contract with other road users: (something like) that we don't want anyone to get hurt, at the "end of the day".

    Sometimes we let things happen that might damage things or people, but do we know in our hearts it serves no one? Maybe mikec's point wasn't really worth making in that way, if there was a message that the driver needed to hear.
