I have to say una/hussy, as much as you deny it i think it is clear to all that you are pissed about the price the frame sold for and in my opinion you brought this upon yourself by contacting the people who had placed a bid but not thinking about those who may place a bid last minute. That wouldn't have been an issue if you had a reserve on the auction, Tomassos low last minute bid wouldn't have won him the frame.
If the auction was past the point where ebay deem it is acceptable to edit the listing then you should have taken that as a hint and let the auction run as it was and then contacted the winning bidder with details of the damage and offered to cancel the sale and give any appropriate refund or to take a lower price for the frame at that point. Once the auction ended you would have had the option to make a 'second chance offer' to the 2nd and 3rd highest bidders (with a note about the damage) if the highest bidder had not been interested.
I think you went the route you did to try and avoid some fees from ebay and paypal and it's backfired on you.
I have had experiences like this before on ebay where the seller has contacted me right after the end of the sale and explained honestly that they messed up the listing and the item has sold for less than they want to take for it and apart from a little disappointment at not getting the bargain i thought i had i have understood and the sale has been canceled with little or no hard feelings either way.
If you don't want to sell the frame for the price Tomasso won it for there is nothing that can be done to convince you nor should there, it's you property and ebay isn't a concrete contract to sell BUT in my opinion you have have acted dishonestly and this thread should act as a warning to other users not to buy from you on eBay and i would hope Tomasso would leave you negative feedback and contact eBay to have a strike put against your account.
This thread should also act as a lesson to people that communication is a good thing and that especially where eBay is concerned you can never have too much of it.
