I've been using it for years and years now, and it wasn't until I had a photoshop image-war with a friend that I learned how to use some of the more complex processes necessary to, for example, realistically superimpose my friend's face onto an erect penis.
id like to see that

I'll have to make it again, it was 4 years and 5 computers ago. File has long since been lost to the ether.

The best way to learn photoshop, I find, is to make stupid pictures. Eg:
That's how i learnt.
Starting off doing these: http://digimods.co.uk/index2.htm
Then got more deep and learnt how to do specific things on tutorials. -

Can someone change the date on train tickets? I'd pay good money for that. My ticket doesn't have to go through any machines, just has to pass a cursory glance.
Sorry for the hijack. As you were.

Having an aim and trying to achieve it is deff the best way to learn. Youtube has some tutorials I think.

Where can one buy a (legitamate) copy of potatoshop for a good price?
And what is a good price to pay? Lots of dodgy looking versions on the 'bay. -
• #97
I know there's lots of free podcasts that cover it's use for photo retouching 'cos I've ben using some of them. I expect that there are similar ones that would cover the graphic design angle too.

any particular reason you want a "legitimate copy"? I've been working on downloaded, cracked versions for years and never had any problems.......
and I have to say, though probs a bit late, that I totally agree with all the guys n' gals saying that with photoshop having something simple to aim for, getting progressivley more difficult, and just messing around to find the solutions, is the best way to learn.
mind you, depending on what you really want to achieve, in terms of retouching and photographic applications, probably less than half of what photoshop's capable of is needed. just my 2 cents worth.....
oh, by the way: "hi y'all!"

I want legitimate because I've had issues with dodgy software in the past, not being able to register online, therefore not qualifying for updates.
But if you can point me to a fully-functioning non-legit source then that would suffice too I suppose. -

But if you can point me to a fully-functioning non-legit source then that would suffice too I suppose. If you want the latest versions then sometimes ebay but your usually looking at £500+ for a legit copy of each individual software. I recently sold Creative Suite CS2 (photoshop, illustrator, indesign, dreamweaver, acrobat etc) for about £350 (original retail £1250) so you could get older versions much cheaper BUT, watch out, anything below CS3 is not made for intel Macs so runs on simulation and runs slower.
BUT....if you know a student or are a student, you get them to buy it and get a license emailed to them via there uni email, you can pick the package up for under £400 PLUS, if one buys a student copy of any adobe package and leaves uni, they can use the software AFTER graduation for work and any other purposes with no expiration of the license.
It's simple, isn't it? Some people will be OK learning by themselves, others will benefit more from tuition. As for the OP, it sounds as if he assumes that tuition is the way to go, so that may well be his preferred learning style--but it would undoubtedly be helpful if you could elaborate, VanUden.
