nice, but 120 is a bit tooo steep for a no-graphic deck, even if the parts are 70's originial
70-80quid is a reasonable price i say, no offence
if anyone want's it, make me an offer. i have the exact same listing on 3 forums and gumtree etc. I'm trying to make money so the highest price is there for the idiots

you can get these easily, then its just trucks bearings and some big wheels. a lot simpler than a bike

ahhh this thread is taking me back. had some wicked squishy 70mm kryptonics on a regular early 90s new deal deck.
really need to put together a cruiser. there's a great website for old skaters somewhere.

Slam City skates have a few of the landscape cruiser boards in (http://www.slamcity.com/store/index.php?cPath=40_32&sort=2a&page=1). I much prefer these to the zip zingers as the tail is wider so much easier to do tricks, also has all your cruising needs. Thus ollies up kerbs no problem ahoy, kickflips are also fine.

For sale, Bull Dog Skates first deck (2004 I think) by the infamous Wes Humpston (JFGI), only very slightly used, no paint loss, just some kicktail scrape which on plain wood aren't visible. Really nice mellow spoon concave, all the way down to the kick.
Complete build with Trackers, almost no scrapes:
and these Kryptonics (Slammers), soft and good for street but not too soft to get a pop or slide em, I reckon about 85A-88A.
Mine are bright green not pink
- Bones swiss bearings which are something like £45 a set. Still in excellent nick.
It was built in 2004 and I have ridden it only a few times. I broke my collar three times in quick succession and gave up skating eventually. Have quite a few boards (mostly longer) under the stairs needing selling.
The Lowdown (what any skater into this stuff will tell you):
Trucks and wheels are decent, proper gear in the style of this retro board, but not the absolute DBs, i.e. not NOS.
The deck and bearings are top notch.Set me back about £160.
For sale now! £80
Pic of my actual set up on request, these^ are just culled images.Gnarly.

Never did much with it, was crap at skating -

That makes me smile, ace. I dragged my mum to Surreys to buy my Vans in 77 / 78. What's the matter with Greenflash.
It took you a whole year to drag your mother to Surreys, James?!

Can someone give me some advice regarding wheels?
Whats better for speed on the street, hard or soft?
And whats better for sliding?
I used to think hard = fast, I got a basic begginner complete for my sister which had really soft wheels which was dead slow which also re-inforced this belief. But people have been telling me I need softer wheels to go fast on crappy streets, is this true? I do currently have really hard black wheels on my board and find it kind of slow (faster than sisters board but I have abec 8 and her board has abec3).
Also, are there and specific wheels which are the best for sliding? Ive been trying to slide for years and have been failing, I used to thing hard = slippy, but am I wrong? Would softer be better for sliding?
Also what 'numbers' should I be looking at, ive seen digits specifying hardness but dont really know what they mean.
Whats a good choice for a compact cruiser board, for speed & slides. Would too big wheels mean 'too much grip' ?
Also whats a good choice for trucks, someone told me independents are the most renowned for stable turning. But arent they sold on strength? - I would be happy with a weak truck if it was light & turned well.
Lastly I found these completes on ebay, im tempted as I dont really have £150 to blow on a custom! They seem pretty decent to my nieve eyes, and my kinda price. But are they the unipack equivalent?

independents FTW
I'd get a crooked zip zinger
with relatively soft wheels, but not like cake for wheels
I'd just go to a shop tbh
(Tuesday RIP) >> go to slam city skatesand also, abec ratings don't mean sheeeeet
-
• #43
i meant Abec 11 as in these....
-
• #44
agree with mikey.krooked zipp zinger with indy 8 inch wide trucks. if you go to slam ask for some filmers wheels, theyre slighty softer than normal wheels and go over rougher roads with ease, think landscape do some for quite cheap. fuck the abec, thats bullshit, get some bones reds. they smooth and last a long time. good enough for mark gonzales its good enough for everyboby
longboards are shit btw!!!

wanna sell it?

I acknowledged that fact already!
Its damn irratating having something that long on which you cannot really kick-turn/manual. Plus having a go on my friends I found it no easier to go faster/over bumps.

find it really weird standing on longboard and not having my back foot near the tail. feels horrible.
prob the 3rd worst mode of transport, worst being a teatray and a unicycle.

Aw man! This was my first "proper" deck after my Variflex Ramp Rat II and stuff like that. That pic just made my day! :D

Hi, am also in the market for one of these old school bikes. Is the above a piece of junk or worth it for summer use for simple cruising?

Haha. just spotted that too.
I actually remember seeing people on variflex board when I was a kid and it making me desperately want a board.
They look rather crude, flat piece of wood for a deck (like my first board!) hard PVC wheels (looks like it) but at least its got metal trucks!
As crude as it is I dont think you can go wrong at that price, its worth it as a retro novelty. I wouldnt expect the ride to be great. But ok for a roll around (probably)
