That's cool. I don't do posh anyway! Not at twice the price anyhoo.
The gold 710 and the gold EAI cog are not for looks !
The gold is a titanium-nitride coating, it is many many times harder than steel, my chain and cog were virtually brand new after a year of spinning (got pictures somewhere on this forum, might try and dig them up for you).
Not only will your parts not wear out as fast but the drive chain will be smoother for longer - and smoother makes for silence.

Having just got that one from 14 Bikes Co, they're surprisingly light! should flare well on the new project.

the chain, I weighted a standard steel one and it's nice to save a bit of weight, actually thinking about it I managed to keep the weight low on the crankset, the pedal, the saddle and the stem/bar, hopefully it'll be noticably lighter than the Pista.

I'm looking for a bomb proof and all round shit weather deterrent chain... for my pista. Z1RXB any good?
Alos for my build a shiny silver tarty high end quiet chain to caress my Phil Woods sprockets... what's worthy of that? K710SL?
Recommendations please, I used the search and everything

Well.....since you ask, I use a KMC 510 ;)

i have a KMC d101 'devil' track specific chain. it's real good.

HKK Vertex FTW!
My mate has DID racing Pro on both his bikes and swears by them, very strong and very quiet too(depending on what cog you also use)

i've got a wicked one for the track, izumi job for about 10 from the jumble guys at herne hill, run it completely dry and its all shiny and sounds like theres a big industrial machine going underneath me.
-
• #71
i love whirring chains
-
• #72
Chain noise makes me grimace.
Just swapped an Izumi track chain which was making a racket for a KMC Kool BMX chain (because I was lacking Kool). Nice and quiet by comparison and feels very chunky. Alloy sprocket makes a bit more noise too.
-
• #73
using the *kool *one too. just don't run too much oil on it.
-
• #74
I've not oiled it yet - seems like the thick grease that comes with it does the job well. Can you buy that stuff?
-
• #75
ha, not sure, it would be a bit messy to put on, and i think it collects more road dust, i always rub the excess off the chain when i get a new one anyway.
