  • Play well and fast.

Such a pleasure to come back here and play with the guys who initiated me to the sport.
The level is substantially higher than in London, and they have a good group of say 15 players who are really good and consistent, plus maybe 5-6 guys who are just really very very strong (Adam, Zach, Doug, Paul, Chombo and a few others).

    BUT

I think that within a few months London will be able to give them serious competition. All we need is to get used to bigger and faster courts. The only one that comes close to The Pit (their court) is the Bermondsey banked court I think. Long and closed on all sides. We should play there more (saturdays there instead of NE? or weekdays in the evening as it is floodlit?)

Anyway looking forward to TROUNCING you all with my new New York moves when I come back.

    yorgo

  • Long court practice sounds good, but there'll be no trouncing!

Nice avatar by the way. Smug git. ;)

  • That sounds good to me. I like the de beauvoir court for saturdays. But I've been dreaming about getting a regular thing -- south one day and north one day. So I could see doing Bermondsy on sat day and broadway on tues (or some other) night.

  • yorgo!

i just found this court today. It's long, well closed in, and brand new! We'll be playing on it on saturday, so will see how it goes. Otherwise, yes, let's play bermondsey!

  • Yorgo, we can't get people playing at bermondsey all the time. We'll lose our home court advantage as everybody will be used to it! ;)

I just saw that one gabes is on about and it looks so nice! Hopefully I'll get around to playing polo again soon and hit that court up.

  • Oops, that was me ^ posting on Roxy's laptop...

  • are you sure it wasn't a normal court and felt big to you le car?

  • please yorgo! bring back some Americans to teach us how to play polo...we are so desperate.

Its just not fun...we need to be better for it to be fun.

  • i remember when it was a slow, graceful sport; leisurely and gentlemanly. now its all should barging and sprints... humbug says i, humbug!

  • In new yourk they... put pictures of Yorgo's bike up online... why not his mustache?

    time bandits polo!

  • btw, yorgo, you're as tall as me.

  • have you got a picture of how your bike looked after saturday?

  • ... drag their bikes on the floor for some reason.

I get so much pleasure out of seeing paul pissed haha. Hoping to be out on the courts here in London ASAP (although I still need a bike too).

  • Yeah dunno what Paul was angry about, he's usually pretty chilled. Just come to the courts anytime, people will lend you a bike and mallet I'm sure.

I'm hoping to be at brick lane polo on sunday pending my completion of some schoolwork.

  • chris check the threads... Brick Lane on sundays is pretty much dead. Sat is more active usually, either at Newington, Downham or Mitchison.

  • after visiting and playing thu night and all sunday, i agree with what yorgo says in the first post. but since the development of the league our skill level has improved. but we have to play more on bigger courts and get used to super quick play.

it was interesting to see that on the bigger court they don't have a goalie, but sometimes played man on man.

i've got some balls, 2 franklins and 4 slightly harder ones

  • titter dale's got balls.... :D

  • i saw one of your t's, think it was jonny that was wearing it

  • yep yep that would be jonny.
