The tyres weight makes the whole bike feel different. Rotating weight when accelerating and climbing and gyroscopic weight when turning.
Might not make much difference when comparing a 200g tyre to a 240g tyre but when you are in the realms of 500g tyres then it makes a very big difference. It makes the bike bike feel sluggish.
Sluggish is not a problem for touring as the masses of additional weight/panniers etc,. are going to be a bigger problem and touring is what these tyres were designed for isn't it?
